This is a basic standard hotel in need of some refurbishment but nevertheless comfortable and clean. Breakfast was just about acceptable as was the comfort of the bed. Staff were quite helpful, there was a slight hitch with check-out early on Saturday morning but that was sorted out in the end.

This was my first trip to Russia, and to be honest my hotel expectations were set quite low. Keeping that in mind, the Intourist was exactly what I was expecting. I rated it a 4 not because I think it is a Very Good hotel, but because it is Very Good for an old hotel in a remote part of Russia.
The hotel is about a 30-45 minute drive from the Mineralnye Vody Airport and definitely has some leftover Soviet character. It is in a good location in Pyatigorsk and within easy walking distance of the main shopping and dining areas, as well as on a large urban ‘trail’ system that will take you to some wonderful vantage points to take in panoramic views of the area. The front desk staff spoke good English and were friendly.
Our reservations were for ‘standard rooms’ and upon seeing the rooms – tiny double beds, worn out furniture, cigarette burns, and disgusting bathrooms – we immediately upgraded to ‘deluxe rooms’. These rooms were recently renovated and much nicer, but still fall well below western standards. The deluxe rooms are located on the upper floors and provide fantastic views from the balconies. The walls and windows are also much better constructed than the standard rooms and resist the passage of the ever present cigarette smoking common everywhere.
There was free Wi-Fi available and my iPhone and iPad had no issues connecting. My laptop, however, would rarely connect in my room, but was more successful in the lobby. The breakfast buffet was a bit unusual but had something for everyone. Chunks of roast beef and potatoes, watery oatmeal (porridge), runny scrambled eggs, cereal, and German style meats and vegetables were available each morning. Overall, my 4 night stay was 12,000 rubles.
Although it wasn’t the finest hotel I’ve stayed at, I understand it is the finest in the region, and I would definitely stay again on my next visit to the Caucasian area.

This hotel has a good location and is very clean but that is where the good points end! Breakfast was terrible and staff weren't very helpful. Soviet style and needs serious updating but as I say very clean so can't complain too much! Breakfast would be my biggest gripe!

Still has some of it's "Soviet" character - especially in the lobby, but the room (an older, cheaper, unrenovated room) was just fine- no a/c, but it wasn't necessary when I was there. All rooms have balconies, and the newer ones may have more amenities. Free wi-fi in the lobby, and maybe in some of the newer rooms.

I paid 1650roubles/night for my single room including a nice breakfast. Front desk staff were really nice and eager to help. There was a problem with my shower, and I reported it in the morning when I was heading out, and it was fixed by the time I got back. Very surprisingly good service even in today's Russia.

I should firstly question the previous report. The room rate for a 10th storey, one-bedroomed suite was 4500RUR per night, this is approx. $160. But, the room with large en-suite/jacuzzi/bidet and very large lounge area was excellent. There were 2 balconies. Lifts are small but good quality. Service - perfect. Central to the town and the spa areas. Rooms very warm, probably the only criticism of the room - that its necessary to run all of the hot taps for many minutes before hot water arrives... soviet plumbing?

The description of a bed cover with a hole in it is confusing... the beds are King size, the duvet covers are standard in Russia, therefore the practice is to provide 2 - that butt up to each other. .. hence the "hole"... it is a simple task to overlap them

Rooms small and very basic bathroom facilities. Only single beds and quite hard.
They have refurbished the foyer which is a lot better now and they also take credit cards now.
Service is only average but best place to stay in the region.

It is possible to book rooms at this hotel on their internet website, paying by VISA. It was about $45US / night for a top floor, 2-bedroom suite for 4. Great views over the CBD of Pyatigorsk, down to Mount Elbrus, 100km? away & 5600metres high. Adoption friendly, there are small 6-table cafes on two of the upper floors, plus expensive disco & restaurants associated on the ground floor. Typical tiny elevators, bedcovers with a large hole in the middle (why do the Russians do that ?!). It is difficult to compare Russian things with the rest of the world: spoilt people might call this a very basic, unfriendly, concrete place, but, .... hey, you're in Russia, and there is only one other hotel nearby. It used to be called 'Rudnik Resort', and is a geothermal spa hotel, slightly better condition, a few miles south-east, & offers Colonic Irrigation as a specialty.
