“Hurry for some Curry!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2012

As far as Thai food in Moore county, this place is the best of the 3. Don't be afraid of Thai flavors, they are leaps and bounds better than blah Chinese food, so give Thai Orchid a try! Try ordering something other than boring pad thai, go for some curry, at least 3 stars hot!! Love Thai Orchid!!

“Consistently good food in congenial atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2012

The unassuming exterior of the restaurant (excepting the Thai-style roof over the entrance)gives little hint of the delights to be experienced inside. The accustomed Thai friendliness and smiles are ever present, and the will to please is quite evident. The lunch menu is an abbreviated version of the dinner offerings, and features 14 items ranging from green curry through noodle dishes, to three chicken items, and one of my favorites, Ginger Fish. Aside from the chicken and fish, the dishes come with your choice of meats, seafood, or vegetables, and a salad or spring roll, and steamed or fried rice. Spiciness is available in five levels, from none to Thai hot, and the lowest level of heat matches our tolerance level quite nicely.

The salad comprises iceberg lettuce and red cabbage, accompanied by a peanut sauce, and always has been freshly presented. We don't eat fried foods, so can't comment on the spring rolls. The steamed rice is just that, and the fried rice is rather ordinary.

On our most recent excursion, my companion ordered vegetarian Drunken Noodles with very little spice. She pronounced it excellent, enjoying the flavorful blend of rice noodles (oddly, they were thin noodles, rather than the wider version), broccoli, basil leaves, onion, and sweet chili brown sauce.

My Ginger Fish wins the gold medal. A small filet of cod was perfectly steamed, its fresh, clean taste complemented by the onion, scallion, mushroom, and light ginger sauce topping the filet.

At other times we have dined on Pad Thai, Green Curry, Stir Fried vegetables, Chicken with Basil Sauce, and Chicken with Ginger Sauce, all delightful, consistently of high quality, and in abundant quantity.

The dinner menu is quite extensive, with 8 appetizers, 4 soups, 4 kinds of fried rice, 4 noodle dishes, 11 dinner entrees, 13 chef's specials, and 6 dinner salads, Whew!!

It's worthy of frequent re-visits.

“Good service, reasonably priced.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2012

First time at this restaurant; went for Sunday lunch. Nicely decorated in a Thai decor. Servers personable and attentive. I thought my stir-fry veggies with chicken was just so-so; not much flavor; Ginger salad was lettuce with maybe a sliver or two carrot and purple cabbage; ginger dressing was good. Typical oriental meal with rice (no brown rice, just white or fried rice). However two others in their party enjoyed their meals. Seemed to be a popular place for lunch after church. Would try again when in the area, but would select something different.
