I stopped in Azimut hotel in Novosibirsk and was pleasantly surprised by it's high-level comfort. Beginning from main entrance and finishing with a morning breakfast. I had all necessary things that I needed: good bathroom, flat-tv with multi-channels and foreign programmes, fridge with mini-bar, free Internet and wonderful view of the city with river from 11 floor. The stuff in reception was professional and polite, they had computers with printer for guests which I urgently needed. Everything around was designed in style, easy, clean and friendly unlike other Russian hotels.

Dear guest, thank you for your opinion!

There are two cash machines located at the lobby area next to the Front Office where our Guests can exchange dollars and Euros.

According to the Hotel rules the payment for Room Service is required immediately. All establishments of the city accept payment by credit card or by cash but only in rubles.

We appreciate your feedback and will use it to evaluate changes and make improvements.

I was welcomed to the hotel by a doorman who watched me lug 2 heavy bags up the front steps by myself and then watched as I wrestled with the manual doors and the bags while he did nothing. This is one of the many examples of hotel staff who have absolutely no clue what customer service is.

Check in was slow and ruthless with the soviet trained clerks spending a long time on documents.

I got a deluxe room and it was excellent. Spacious, everything except one window blind worked, free wifi, and a small fridge. The desk chair could have been more comfortable but overall the room is much better than the doubletree.

There is a failed effort at a gym concocted obviously by someone who has never seen or used one. 3 broken cardio machines and 2 dumbells of different weights.

Breakfast was included but indelible would be high praise. 5 blocks away there is a 24 hour supermarket so I bought cereal and yogurt, but for those dependent on a cooked breakfast stay elsewhere. Bread but no butter and no toaster, no fruit. No healthy cereal. The hot breakfast was indescribable.

The lobby bar makes a good caffe latte for 150 rub but you cannot charge bar bill to your room.

Checkout was slow and painful because the clerks would first serve people who jumped the queue before the person in front of the queue.

I was looking for a good alternative to the doubletree but the staff ruin this place despite the excellent rooms.

The service levels we experienced in the hotel rivalled many big name western hotels. We were checked in at 0530 and not charged extra (check in is from 1400), the staff were helpful and attentive to our requests.
We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the extensive menu options, which combined with attentive service ensured we didn't eat elsewhere. Note: the food was delicious, fresh and well prepared and presented.
Another nice touch - hot and cold water dispensers on every floor by the lifts.
The biggest surprise came when we checked out at 0445 on the last night. We had breakfast included in the room rate and had been informed that the breakfast buffet started at 0700. Resigned to missing breakfast we were delighted to be given a packed breakfast containing an apple, sandwich, yoghurt, apple juice, water and a Snickers bar, all neatly presented in a sturdy branded paper bag.

Room Tip: Ask for A/C when checking in.

First, the hotel is so close to the train station it is better to walk the ten minutes than hassle with the taxi drivers. Besides you will get ripped off. You walk out of the train station ... right across the street is a hotel and the club called Vintage ....walk to the side walk and turn right... Azimut is on this street. When I walked into the lobby I was really impressed. The Azimut has a very nice lobby, big reception desk, airline and train booth, piano bar, etc. Besides the reception the rest of the staff will not always understand what you are asking but it really tries to help you.
The room however is a complete disappointment. It is really small with a really small bed and cover that does not completely cover you. The mattress is like a box spring and not a mattress. It is really difficult for me to understand how a hotel chain can offer beds like these!
The Ibis which is incredibly simple but modern and certainly a budget hotel has a very nice almost queen size and very comfortable bed.
Everything else at this hotel is good. The breakfast buffet was satisfying with ample choices. The location is great and I could pretty much walk anywhere I wanted to go. The price is right.

Room Tip: it is my habit to request a high floor .. however i was on a lower floor this time and did not exper...

I have stayed at this hotel in June 2012 during business trip. Location, breakfast and room are good.

Room Tip: Room should not face Sberbank building. Colleagues had light during night.

You came to the capital of Siberia, welcome to the Soviet Union. Grey colors, lots of rules and regulations, Russian-no English, not much flexibility, no added value for money. Once you take that into consideration, the Sibir is OK for a three-star hotel, maybe even good-enough plus.
The (standard) room was very small with two 90X200 cm beds. Wifi works in the room! No need for any password. The bathroom has a tub and a shower, a single container on the wall for all your washing needs - no "extras" like a soap bar, shampoo or body lotion. Bring your own from home (in the Siberian dry weather, lotion is a must). My supposedly non-smoking room (it said so in my booking and on the room door) smelled very heavily of cigarettes, the bathroom- even more so.
Breakfast is surprisingly good. Variety of cheese and ham, some vegetables, different, comperatively fresh, kinds of bread and pastries, pancakes (actually, blini), eggs, and some other hot dishes. Even drinking water beside the juices, tea and coffee (for some reason they served it warm – be sure to take ice cubes from the container nearby).
This time I did not have dinner at the hotel, but when I stayed there a year ago I had good buffet dinners for 500 RR each – certainly worth it instead of going around looking for a decent dinner. (If you insist, I saw a Goodman Stake House, a good chain in Moscow at least, I think not far away but I don't know if it is within a walking distance).
I arrived to Novosibirsk, like most on business trips I guess, in a night to morning flight from Moscow. I paid 50% of the room charge for early check-in at 9:45 AM, but they strongly insisted that the first day breakfast is not included, pay extra 500 Rubles if you want. Typical Siberian-Soviet "A rule is a rule" attitude. I survived that day without breakfast. Talking about the flights Moscow-Novo-Moscow: the Novosibirsk airport is quite user-friendly, certainly comparing to other airports in the area.
Bureaucracy at check-in was tiring as usual. I did not need reception assistance or use anything else of the hotel services this time, so can't report about that.
All in all, as there are not many choices in Novo and after reading what others wrote about the Novosibirsk Hotel, which is also, locals tell me, badly located and attracts "not the right population" from the railway station nearby – I would return to the Sibir Hotel, if visiting Novo again. Lower expectations, and you can be happy with it.
