Stayed in Dozens of Hotels in the Far East of Russia and this is by far the best. Full Western Standard, helpful Staff, comfy rooms, will stay here again on my next visit. Just wish Marriot would put a hotel in Vladivostok.

Price is very good too!

Room Tip: non smoking rooms are really non smoking

We stayed at this hotel for one night during our Trans-Siberian Honeymoon trip. On arrival the staff were very helpful and unfailingly polite. We had the Business lunch which was good value and good quality. We also ate dinner at the hotel and it was, again, very pleasant. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, this hotel should be proud of its staff members.
The room was nice, reasonably sized and clean. The fast free wifi in the lobby was invaluable. We very much felt that this hotel was as good as many hotels in cities in Europe.
Would recommend.

Got a smoking room despite my preference for non-smoking. Personnel is trying to be helpful but the only answer I got was "we are 100% booked". Ongoing restoration works outside, it's kind of noisy all the time. No in-room dining available.

Going to Irkutsk? Keep out of "Marriott".

I stayed here on business for five nights and as Marriott Hotels go, this one is very new and just about as good as they get.
The lobby has dedicated work-space with charging points and and fast free wifi. Wifi is available in room at an extra cost.
Food is quite acceptable, as you would expect in a hotel of this size, but not stunning. For that you need to visit a dedicated restaurant.
My room was large and well equipped, bed was very comfy.
Only downsides were lack of a late bar / food service (there is a little snack shop behind reception), and smokers in the cafe bar - but thats a Russian thing, can't really blame the hotel.
Why not 5 star rating? To get 5, it would need charm and this place has all the charm of a posh dentist waiting room.

Advantages:
- the newest and probably the only international standard hotel in Irkutsk;
- breakfast is nice, really good choice of both hot and cold meals;
- free internet in the lobby is fast enough, the lobby itself is cosy and welcoming - in accordance with new Courtyard's lobby standard;
- very comfortable bed and attractive room design.

Remarks:
- neighbourhood is not looking friendly, also the Angara embankment (just 5 minutes walking) is untidy;
- hotel is overpriced in comparison with European Courtyards and it is not surprising due to most Siberian hotels are high-priced as well but lower standard.

We stayed at the Irkutsk Marriott in the middle of a trip across Asia on the Trans-Siberian Railway. This newer hotel was a delight from start to finish.

The Irkutsk Marriott just opened in November, 2011. It was clear from the outset that they wanted to build a business class hotel that would compare favorably to the best of those in Europe and American, and it showed. The facility is of a high quality and resembles newer Marriott Courtyard hotels in the United States.

Of equal importance, the staff is well-trained, happy, and enthusiastic. Most speak at least a little English. All have been imbued with a strong service work ethic. At least one even remembered my name the next day. The service was consistently attentive and excellent. I had the sense that everyone working there wanted the hotel to be a success.

Our room was modern, clean, and comfortable. You have to pay for wi-fi in your room (there are two levels of data plans), which I normally view as a minus, but they had free wi-fi and excellent work facilities in the lobby so I did not consider this a negative. You can pay for Internet access in your room if you want, but working downstairs for free is a viable option, too and the connection was fast. They also had a PC and work area in the lobby that we did not use.

The location is very good, which may not be immediately apparent when you get there. It’s not right next to anything per se, but convenient to everything and a 5-minute walk to the central Kirov square. We had no trouble walking to the main tourist sights of the town.

The breakfast buffet, included in the price, was terrific. Even though it was a buffet, we had very good service. They had a host of Continental offerings, traditional breakfast foods, various coffees (I had cappuccino), fruit, cereal, and a made-to-order omelet bar.

We took advantage of the businessperson’s lunch one day and for the equivalent of about $12 had a three course lunch that included a choice of soups and entrees. I had tempura salmon, but there were many other alternatives. I thought the lunch was excellent and a very good bargain.

This hotel could be recommended in any major city, and was particularly welcome addition to the options in Irkutsk.

A more than decent choice if you want to be sure about western standards also in Siberia. The hotel is located about ten minutes walk from Lenin Street and Kirov square but the area looks like a ghost town with a lot of empty buildings around and this is a bad point for the evaluation. But the rooms are clean and comfortable. A good breakfast is served and if you need a breakfast box is provided for early departures. There is a sort o f business centre in the hotel with two pc internet connected but during my 3 days stay only one was working. Furthermore internet use is not free (there are two fares related to connection speed). Staff speaks english but with some difficulties. There is a web newspaper service in several languages for free.
Resume:
- PROS: breakfast, breakfast box, newspaper service
- CONS: internet fees, surroundings, english spoken with difficulties.
