Admittedly, we took shelter (no pun intended) here on Christmas Eve, when it was -20C outside, and just before an 80hr stretch of the Trans-Mongolian Railway, so my recollection may be somewhat rose-tinted. However, this was the best meal we had in Russia, ingeniously created and presented (see photo), and blending European and Asian influences. My main was chicken breast in various citrus sauces with lovely sushi and sides of mini-mandarins peeled to look like mini-bananas. There was a good selection of wine and other drinks. The place was full of well-heeled women and fabulously wealthy businessmen, drinking expensive cognacs and smoking Cohibas. The menu was huge so you have the choice of eating vaguely sensibly or else splurging.
It's not the easiest of places to find - you have to go down some unmarked steps into a basement.
