Overall, I enjoyed my stay at President Hotel. It is located quite far from the city center in a very green area, which can be a plus, but can also be a serious downside if you are on a business trip. One day a trip to the city center by car took us 15 minutes, the other day, 45 minutes because of the traffic on the bottleneck bridge. It *is* very quite and nice in the area though, and I was able to sleep very well at night.
The hotel itself is not ideal: as many other ones on the postsoviet space, it attempts at grandeur but often ends up with basic problems. The layout of the lobby is confusing, my room had a huge empty space in between the bathroom and the room that could be used more efficiently, and, erm, my toilet lid didn't open all the way. But there is plush and marble feel everywhere, that's true. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable though, so not too many complaints here. Internet is rather fast and works everywhere in the hotel.
One thing that made the stay much more pleasant is the hotel staff. The service at President Hotel is truly remarkable. Everyone was very helpful, fast, and friendly. I ordered a transfer from the airport, and the driver met me holding a sign with my name at the exit and took a longer drive to show me the city better. When I arrived, my room was not ready, so the receptionist upgraded me for free. The check-in and check-out processes were very quick. I was helped with the luggage. In general, everyone was just really friendly and nice.
Also, the breakfast was great. Not only there was a lot of choice but the quality of food was very good. Machine coffee too, not drip.
So, overall, it's a three star hotel with a five star service.
