I have stayed here twice now, a one night stay for convenience and the second time for a weekend to provide a good base for the town.
My first time was good, new rooms, clean, polite service and handy for surrounding restaurants. The second time likewise. You know when you repeat something's they don't always work, especially in Russia. Inconsistency is their consistency it seems, sometimes it's good and at others it ain't.
I would love someone to tell me what is the real service ethic is here, I have yet to discover it, it seems if you want real service you have to pay a very high price which is probably why Moscow is the most expensive city in the world (apparently) it is almost as if a child has a toy, plays with it for a little while and then gets bored.
Anyhow, the second time we were expected to take our breakfast in the room because they have a wedding?? Ok, but when you return to the hotel at past ten in the evening and the breakfast things are still there and the room is not made up, come on. My patience runs thin here in sunny Russia, you abuse your customers and play easy with their money, smile occasionally and say "the people are new". - they can't all be new, someone needs to take care, it is after all a post soviet period now and time for the kids to grow up.
The hotel is good but could thrive more and be there for services and not the customer for the services. The restaurant Korcma. - Ukranian style just around the corner is a prime example of good service, the food never let's you down, the staff are always attentive and kind, take note Mr Premier - examples are all around you. molokoletto, Korcma, Bufet, La Rochelle, take pride.
