“Nice hotel”
Reviewed June 30, 2011

We stayed only one night at Ibis, the location is good - near Moscow train station and near Nevsky avenue so it's convinient if you arrive by train ( e.g. speedy train named "Sapsan" from Moscow). Check in was quite fast (very friendly staff, especially Irina) and without any problem. Don' t forget to show your Accor loyalti card or Miles and More to earn points. The room was on 6 floor, the size was ok ( for one couple). The good point is free wi-fi at all premises of the hotel, the speed was fast. We didn't try breakfast so nothing to say. Overall I am satisfied the only negative thing - i suppose that 200$ for one night without breakfast included it's expensive, but bear in mind that the accomodation on st. Pete is more expensive as in Europe - welcome to Russia.

I've spent 4 nights here with a friend. The hotel is located centrally so that you can walk to a lot of tourist attractions. Two subway stations are also in walking distance as well as a big shopping mall and the Moscow train station. The hotel is clean and the rooms are bigger than IBIS hotel rooms are in Germany. The bathroom had a huge shower. The staff was friendly and took care of the visa issues after booking. We had a room looking inside a quiet courtyard which was good since the main street is very crowded. The room had thick curtains which is important since the sun rises at 3 am in the morning in the summer. So we could darken the room completly.
The only thing I didn't like is that you receive only one big towl per person. No hand towls, no little towls for the face or the hair. Not good for girls!

Angelika and Daria gave our group very good service.
The hotel is handy for the number 3 bus which runs down Nevsky Prospect to the Marinsky Theatre.
The breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh fruit every day.
The rooms were superior to IBIS in France and Russian food is far superior to French food at the cheaper end of the market.
Try the restaurants on the 6th floor of the Galeria 5 minutes walk away
Free use of 2 computers was provided and much appreciated.
You can book excursions at the concierge desk. Don't miss the show at the Nicolaevsky Palace.
2nd time in St Petersburg and its still my favourite city in Europe.

We came for weekend on 30th of April. At reception we were checked-in by the duty manager-pretty lady. Very friendly, smoky and professional! Thank you!
Room 717 was so nice! View-I don't care, coz I go anywhere not for watch the window. But the room was very cozy and clean.
We had everything we needed for.
Bar on the first floor gives you a chance to have a coffee with dessert till midnight.
So... I love this kind of hotels, where you feel like at Homs and noone watching you!
We will be back, for sure!

Good location, 8 min walk to the metro station and there is a nice shopping mall 5 min away... Rooms are simple, small but clean! staff is helpful and overal we would stay there again considering the very high prices for hotels in Russia.

I have stayed at Hotel Vera and the Nevsky Express Hotel at 93 Nevsky Prospekt -- the Ibis is better, provided you can get by without a free breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is there, but it is not free. There are a couple little cafes nearby -- so provided you speak some Russian, there are other places nearby for breakfast.

The main reason why I liked the Ibis is that it is a new building. When I stayed at these other places, I was very concerned about what would happen if a fire broke out. If you haven't spent a lot of time in Russia, this may sound ridiculous -- but this is a country where the fire escape is often locked and there's usually only 1 open door going into/out of a building, no matter how crowded. Unless you want to stay someplace like the Astoria that has been completely renovated, I think it is safer to stay in entirely new construction in St. Petersburg.

Generally speaking, hotels in St. Petersburg are rather expensive -- this is a bargain. It's an Ibis -- so it's not fancy -- but I'd stay there again.

Pros:
**New building
**Very reliable free highspeed wireless
**New furnishings/beds, etc...
**Nice in-room tvs with foreign channels
**Nice bar area
**2-3 security guards in the lobby
**Very clean
**English-speaking staff
**5 minute walk to the Moscow train station
**Large rooms for the price

Cons:
**No free breakfast
