We hadn’t visited the museum when in St Petersburg so was on our to do list this time.
Reasonable entry price, you get tickets after security search and then up the stairs to the museum.
Great displays of Fabergé eggs and other pieces.
Fascinating to read that there are only 50 Fabergé eggs in the world and 9 are here.
Nice little gift shop and cafe that you pass through before you leave.
We were there late morning and it never felt busy.
Faberge museum in Saint Petersburg. More than the eggs! It is totally worth visiting! Neclassical Shuvalov Palace on the Fontanka River - one of the most beautiful palaces in St. Petersburg. The museum's collection contains the world's largest collection of works by Carl Fabergé, including nine of the famous Imperial Easter Eggs, regarded not only as the finest jeweled works of art, but also as unique historical artifacts. It also includes decorative and applied works made by the Russian masters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exact date of the palace's construction is unknown. It is presumed to have been built at the end of 18th century by the great neoclassical architect Giacomo Quarenghi. Prior to 1799, the palace was owned by the Vorontsov family before it was acquired by Countess Maria Naryshkina.
We loved our visit to this museum. The guide was informative and the eggs breathtakingly beautiful, as well as all the other pieces to see. They have a wonderful gift shop also.
Hesitantly visited Faberge Museum - but i would have not visited this Museum it would have been real painful. It has unbelievable collection of Eater Eggs, Jewelry Pieces, Vessels and lots of amazing pieces of arts unless you see personally - this can be only admired and can never be described. Very close to public transport and beautiful place to visit without exception will not take more tan 90 minutes inside.
This was an evening tour prearranged by our tour company. It was a self-guided tour using headphones. The eggs were the highlight for me, especially the one showing the family of Nicholas II. There were also many other items such as jeweled snuff boxes and porcelain plates. It is interesting to note that many of the items in the museum were originally owned by Malcolm Forbes.

The local people may not know this museum exists as there are few more famous tourist attractions in the area. So check the map well before heading to this museum, don't expect local people knows this place .
This museum is small but every piece is very delicate, very exquisite and fine - it's like royal jewelry. It's so special that not every piece is looks like an egg. The jewler had unlmited imagination that he created many unique piece of art.
And I like the story that the man tailor made a beautiful faberge as a memorable gift for his beloved wife every year. Visiting this museum likes watching a love story.
Don't miss this museum, I recommanded my friend to come, she loved here even better than The State Heritage Museum.
