See the eggs in the Moscow Kremlin Armory too, but these are presented so that you can get a much more close up view of these lovely jewels with excellent lighting.
The museum is much more that the eggs, though, and is a very nice, well-presented thematic collection of Faberge jewelry, which appears to be in this museum primarily involved with the decoration of everyday objects to beautify and personalize them. Definitely worth a visit, though the pre-purchase ticket website wasn't working when we visited and the lines always appeared to be at least twenty minutes long.
Lots of treasures, but the Faberge eggs are the main attraction. Do get a guide, because the back story is vital.
Recommend a private tour through Alla Tours. The history and exhibit of original Faberge eggs is incredible. The other art and icons are also well worth the vist.
The Faberge Museum, on the Fontanka river, is a beautiful building; the neoclassic façade on the Fontanka river is more than mirrored by the opulent, and perfectly restored interior. It hosts the spectacular exhibition of several Faberge Easter Eggs, plus - at the time of writing - a beautiful exhibition of the work and life of Frida Kahlo and her husband Diego Rivera.
I very liked the design of some rooms. Also eggs were very beuatiful. Its worth to visit. Avoid turist hours, cause can be very crowdly.
The Faberge Museum is a must see when in St. Petersberg. Such beauty and opulence is far beyond belief unless you see it for yourself. .
