Dazzling display of one-of-a-kind eggs produced for Russian royalty by Peter Carl Faberge/House of Faberge around the turn of the Nineteenth Century. As these pieces were sold-off or absconded-with during the Russian Revolution, some of the originals are still missing. (In 2015, one was discovered in the American Midwest at a flea market by a man who bought it, thinking it was scrap metal. He later discovered it was the Third Imperial Easter Egg and sold it for $33M!) The ones that you see in this museum were collected by Malcolm Forbes as well as a Russian oligarch and are on loan for our viewing pleasure. If you're in St. Petersburg, GO! You'll have a wonderful history lesson and see some exquisite jewels!
Spent about an hour looking at the most stunning and intricate faberge eggs, the collection is amazing. Also there are other display cases that should also not be missed which included decorative cases, cuff links, opera glasses etc. Well worth a visit.
It was great to see such a selection of he Fabergé masterpieces, which only seen in photos. The palace as such was worth seeing!
The Faberge museum is a small museum which displays the famous eggs. It explains the history of how they came about and of the ones on display. The decorated eggs where usually giving as gifts and have a fun surprise inside. The craftsmanship is excellent and well worth a look. I would recommend an audio guide or a guided tour to bring it to life
Super collection and real treasure in the nice place. The building itself is unique. I recommend to visit this place and to enjoy historical collection.
The classical collection is impressive, and we had the chance of visiting an outstanding exposition of Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera : amazing !
