“Russia is always so expensive for Hotels”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2011

Tipical Holiday Inn, only the price is higher level comparing the others of the same network. Th hotel is located very close to the subway stop (5 min by walking). The rooms were clean, quite spacious, the breakfast, as always happen in Russia when the hotel is not a top level hotel, is lower quality level compating to the same European network. People is friendly and available to help you.

Dear Rosp,

thank you for your comment.
We are working on our breakfast assortment and service.
Regarding the high price level I can just mention that the season of white nights is very short and the city in this period is very popular. Our prices are very flexible and we have many special offers for other periods.
Thank you for choosing us
We will be happy to see you again.

Negatives- hotel staff were unhelpful and Bordering on rude. Hotel is not walking distance to Nesky Prospek so always having to catch metro which is across the road from hotel. Rooms were ok but view is of old dirty Parking lot. When rooms where cleaned a Very poor job was done. When leaving the hotel would not call us a taxi for the airport but would only offer us their driver service which was more than double the price!
Positives - if u do stay here then it is across road from metro and supermarket.
I would recommend paying little extra to stay within walking distance of main city area and as close to Nesky Prospek or St Isaacs as possible as will make a big difference.

Positives - um not much really except that hotel is across E

The hotel strives to keep to the HI standard and mostly makes it. It's modern, clean, has heated bathroom floors (in Executive) and a nice restaurant. The location is okay - far from the city center, but communicated by metro if you want to do sightseeing - but watch out - if you're caught in the city after the metro service stops, you'll have to take a taxi or a 10-kilometers walk!
The staff could have been more friendly and air conditioning in the Rodchenko restaurant could be tuned down a bit - it was virtually freezing and the food got cold very fast (while it was not prepared fast, unfortunately).
Price is as for HI in Russia, standard is mostly like in an HI. If this is your standard, it's OK. But if you want sightseeing, you can find cheaper places in the very center of St Petersburg.

Never ask Ekaterina from Reception for a help. She can just go away without any comments for a 20 minutes and never come back to help you or to answer your questions.
The breakfast is not good.

Had a great 4-night stay. As Platinum Elite of Priority Club, got a nice suite upgrade. The room was spacious and with a good view to the Moscow Gates.

Breakfast was quite plentyful as well. Only thing was that there was some misunderstanding regarding the inclusion of it in the rate, but it was eventually sorted out.

Location is also close to metro station and from in front of the hotel there is also direct shuttle buses going to the airport.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2011

My wife and I arrived at the hotel on the evening of May 22, 2011. We went out early the following morning for a full day of activities. We returned at 5:30 PM. Our plan was to shower, change, and then meet up with another couple for dinner. However, our room had not yet been made up, and the dirty towels from the previous night had not been changed. At 5:35 PM, I called the front desk, and asked when we could expect the room to be serviced by housekeeping. He said "whenever they get there." We changed, and went out.

The following morning, I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager on duty. I explained the events of the previous evening. She was genuinely shocked, and apologized. She then said she would find out why the room had not been made up by 5:30 PM, and would also talk to the associate who had told me that the room would be made up "whenever they get there."

She then offered to upgrade our room. I explained that the room was satisfactory, and that it would be inconvenient to repack and move. She then offered me a bottle of champagne and a fruit tray. I told her that we did not drink champagne, and did not want to be carrying the bottle around for the balance of our trip. She then looked at me and asked for a suggestion. I told her that we would be in the hotel for two more nights, and I sugggested that a comp dinner would be a fare compromise. She said that her General Manager would be in later in the morning, and she would seek her approval.

When we returned to the hotel that evening, we found a letter in our room from the General Manager. It stated that according to their standards, rooms are made up between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. No consideration was offered. If that was, in fact, their policy, it must have come as news to the morning front desk manager, who had offered me an upgrade or champagne when I had explained the experience to her. In addition, there was no mention of their response to learning that an employee had told me that rooms get made up "whenever they get there."

By any reasonable standard, this is not an inexpensive hotel. In summary, I found their manner unfriendly, their service deficient, and especially incommensurate with the price.
