Our first contact through email was quick, orderly and very informative. We booked with no problem using a letter of authorization for our credit card charge as well as confirming that they would take care of of our Visa invitations for 700 RUR per person. When we arrived, we were somewhat thrown off because the building is undergoing renovation so the front door was not as expected and the entry stairs had not been renovated. There is no lift or elevator to the small hotel but the staff would gladly help you with the luggage. On the second floor however we were met by the most gracious staff, offered drinks, and shown our nice size rooms. We were in Quarenghi, a very nice room with a large bath. It is located on the courtyard side of the building and at the time that side of the building was being renovated. We were never there during the daytime so were never bothered by any noise from the renovation. I believe the names of the rooms are all of Italian architects from the 18th and 19th centuries that built many of the palaces in St. Petersburg. The breakfasts were very nice and casually served which we enjoyed - everything from granola, to yogurt, fruit and hot breakfast cooked to order. The staff was very attentive and enjoyed hearing of our adventures. This is a very small hotel and is not prepared for room service - it could be considered more like a very nice bed and Breakfast type accomodation. Another big plus is location, location, location. Very central and an easy walk to many sights. I would recommend to those who don't need a large hotel, restaurant, business center but desire a personal interaction with wonderful staff. Thank you all - we loved St. Petersburg.

Room Tip: Quarenghi is on the courtyard side but Rastrelli looked nice too though on the street side. Actually...

Having long wanted to travel to St. Petersburg, we were lucky enough to spend a week in the Rinaldi Suite during White Nights this year.I can sum it all up by saying we would do everything all again, exactly the same, if we were going back-and I think that's probably the ultimate compliment! You couldn't ask for better service-Daria is a treasure, the bed was very comfy, the bathroom spacious with lovely toiletries, the blackout curtains worked (important in June), the breakfast cooked to order was varied and set you up for the day, cups of tea are on offer at any time, and we had the opportunity to chat with like-minded travellers.
It is an amazing experience to step out of your hotel, walk for 5 minutes, and see St Isaacs, then a few more minutes to The Bronze Horseman, the banks of the Neva, the Winter Palace, Church on Spilt Blood, Nevsky Prospekt-all within walking distance. And so much more.....
Plenty of eateries close by-don't miss Teplo for fantastic food 5 minutes from your door.
I cannot rate this overall experience highly enough, and have filled many photo albums with this journey.

Casa Leto:

1) was in walking distance to all the sites we wanted to see
2) has a friendly helpful staff
3) includes a comfortable and pretty room and bathroom (Rastrelli)
4) was easy to find and close to walk to after we were dropped off from the St. Peter line in front of St. Isaacs and picked up there 3 days later for the return to the ferry

Daria, the manager, provided us a bottle of champagne when learning we had just been married. My husband and I drank it that evening while talking with Svetlana, who was working the late shift. Daria, thank you for that lovely gesture. We also thank you for arranging to get our tickets to the Heritage on-line, allowing us to go to the front door immediately without having to stand in an endless line.

We live in Europe, so we don't eat a big breakfast. The blini pancakes with the dab of sour cream and wonderful jams full of whole fruit were terrific, and filling. My husband said the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. We usually eat a croissant and muesli with yogurt, and that was also provided. This breakfast lasted us all day until the evening meal, enabling us to see as much as possible on our 3 day visa free visit.

The building itself was historic. We'd seen formerly grand entrances to a series of palatial flats that have since been in need of refurbishing before, particularly in Barcelona. The stair steps to the Casa Leto are shallow, as in palaces in parts of Europe, to allow owners/visitors in the 1800s to glide up and down them easily with their heavy flouncy dresses, making for a regal floating impression. Today it helps when carrying suitcases.

There are grander hotels in the area (Astoria to name but one), but we prefer a less formal and more personal touch. I highly recommend the Casa Leto. We personally prefer to provide business to families with new ideas rather than corporate entities with their predictable offerings.

Room Tip: If your a light sleeper, I would go for a courtyard view, though that area is being renovated, so it...

It 'was a big surprise for us after seeing the main entrance and the staircase, we must admit!
We found ourselves inside a beautiful apartment. Tastefully decorated all the rooms and the bathroom with underfloor heating. Cuddled any time by the staff at any time to return was available to prepare us a cup of tea or coffee with biscuits and fruit.
Recommended is the MUST!

Room Tip: Quarenghi room overlooking the inner courtyard, that is not who knows what, but it's quiet and w...

My husband and I began our visit to Russia at the Casa Leto Hotel in St Petersburg. We were greeted at the door by Svetlana, a welcome sight after 48 hours of off and on travel. Check-in was a breeze and we were immediately led to our room and offered a tea service. Our room was beautiful - spacious and clean and wonderfully comfortable. The location is ideal - we walked to all the major sights (except Peterhof for which we walked to the hydrofoil). The strength of Casa Leto lies in the staff - every single one (Daria, Liliana or Elena?? and of course, Svetlana, made us feel so special and were always eager to help. The breakfasts were lovely, juice, fresh fruit, coffee or tea, pastries and toast, porridge or cereal, yogurt, omelettes, and my favorite, pancakes (or blinis?). Restaurant recommendations were perfect and reservations were always made for us. Casa Leto arranged a couple tours for us - to Peterhof, and also a city tour. I think the prices were on the high end but it was nice not to have to worry about anything. The hotel also arranged our transfers from the airport and to the railway station. Again, based on what we encountered in Moscow when we arranged our own transportation just using city taxis, the prices were probably on the high side. It should be noted though that the hotel covered all these services up front so we never had to worry about paying for anything - we just paid for everything at check-out which made concerns about exchange issues and available currency a non-issue. I can't say enough for the service we received at this hotel- it made all the difference. We loved St Petersburg and we didn't want to leave!

Long before we arrived at the doors of Casa Leto we felt that we might have some friends in the city of St Petersburg. Many e mails had winged back and forth and we always had prompt and useful replies. Restaurants were booked, taxis ordered and tickets delivered before we even set foot in the City. However we were still a little nervous about what to expect. We arrived stressed and steeled for the challenge of time in an unknown part of the world. We never expected to leave chilled and relaxed and clamouring to go again!
In the main our change of heart was due to this wonderful hotel. Rarely have we felt so cared for and so well looked after. It is only a small place with an unusual entrance and Italianate stairway leading up to the reception door. Our initial greeting on arrival was repeated without fail every time we came in. There was a warm welcome, more than polite enquiries about what we had been doing and the offer of cups of tea or coffee! Our room was comfortable and exceedingly warm. The en-suite bathroom was clean and well fitted and there were always fresh towels and Moulton Brown products to hand. The beds are comfortable and cosy and warm. Breakfast was served in from a wee kitchen and they rustled us up what ever we wished. The porridge was good! A supply of fresh pastries and toast was to hand and tea and coffee kept coming. One morning we asked for breakfast in our room and were treated to the same excellent food served on our own coffee table.
The staff are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this wonderful city. They gave us loads of helpful tips and saved us lots of roubles with good advice. The staff ordered taxis for us, recommended and booked Restaurants and Spas and explained local customs - night time pony rides for one!
The hotel is wonderfully situated in the centre of the Historic Heart, minutes walk from the Hermitage and St Isaac's Cathedral. It was an 8 min walk to the River Neva and 10 to the Church on the Spilled Blood. There was a basic food store next door, a wine shop round the corner and a chemist opposite that. The location was perfect for exploring the City.
Having said all that it was the staff that made this such a wonderful place to stay. They were intuitive, kind, helpful, accommodating and good fun. Casa Leto is the antithesis to most impersonal City Centre Hotels, it had a beating heart! We will certainly be back!

Room Tip: There are only five rooms in all but all are warm and comfortable.

Loved this little get away hotel - the staff were brilliant, rooms cosy and warm and breakfasts lovely. We loved it and would highly recommend if you are looking for a lovely alternative to a large mainstream hotel.
