“Worth visiting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

This museum is off the beaten path, but really worth visiting. You will learn a lot about the famous Russian poetess Anna Akhmatova as she spent nearly the entire life in this house. You will be navigated through the most important and crucial milestones in her life and will really feel the atmosphere of that time.
There is an audio guide (1 for 2 persons is enough) in different languages helping to guide you through the house.
The required time for the visit is about 1-1.30 hours.

P.S. the entrance to the museum is from the Liteynyy prospekt.

“Akhmatova's apartment in Sheremetev palace on Fontanka”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

For people who are interested in Anna Akhmatova, poets during the USSR, and those who want to catch a glimpse into a palace-turned soviet apartment, this is an interesting place to go. There are packets of information in each room in several languages and plenty of pictures and cool things to look at, so if you don't speak Russian, it's still an interesting place to go. My favorite part was seeing the old newspapers from before the Russian revolution that were used to cover the walls before putting new wallpaper on!

“The Lady”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

Two huge red cats who think they own the place are the best part of it, if they bother to notice you. Pay special attention to the furniture and things in the appartment itself - all this is a genuine part of Russian everyday life.

“What happened to Writers and Artists during the Soviet regime”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Anna Akhmatova can be seen many place in St. Petersburg. Two places not to miss are the Museum at Fountain House and her statue across the Neva from Kresty Prison. To maintain ones' sanity and write such poetry is to be honored.
