We stayed for one week at the beginning of April. Although cold outside, the hotel was warm, reception staff welcoming and our room comfortable and spacious. I thought I had booked a double room, but we were given a twin with two single beds pushed together - less than ideal, but we managed ok. Free WiFi throughout the hotel was efficient and problem-free.
We ate a meal in the dining-room on our first evening, but sadly it was over-priced and disappointing, and the waiter, who spoke no English, was not especially friendly or welcoming. Breakfast, on the other hand, was plentiful, with a good generous buffet and a wide selection of hot and cold food. Unfortunately the background music, on two or three days, consisted of one track, apparently stuck on repeat... By the time we had heard it for the 5th or 6th time we were more than ready to go...! A ploy perhaps to prevent you eating too much breakfast?
The hotel is well located for central St. Petersburg. We arrived by taxi from the airport, having been royally ripped off by the airport taxi company to the tune of 1400 roubles (about £28) and with hindsight might have saved money using the hotel shuttle service. We worked out how to travel by Metro and bus for our return journey, but it was all too much for us on arrival - especially given that we speak no Russian!
All in all, a pleasant hotel and reasonable value for the price - there may have been other facilities that we didn't use, but we were mostly out and about all day and just returned to the hotel in the evening. But I would recommend it to any traveller looking for a comfortable hotel in central St. Petersburg within walking or Metro distance of the sights of this beautiful city.
