On a recent cruise we were fortunate to have 2 days in St Petersburg. Our ship offered a variety of tours, but we decided we would rather have a more personalized experience. After much research we found Alisa Shavykina, and could not have been more pleased.
Alisa speaks perfect English, is very organized and extremely knowledgeable. More importantly to us, she is very flexible and can accommodate a tour to your specific needs. My sister-in-law hurt her back the day before we boarded our ship and was unable to “keep up” with a normal pace of a ship’s organized tour. Alisa made sure we were able to see and do everything planned – but at a more leisurely pace.
Back on the ship at dinner, our tablemates described their day as being herded onto a bus, dropped off and told “be back here in 1 hour”, then back on the bus and so on… We, on the other hand, were immersed in St. Petersburg history and culture, thanks to Alisa.
It requires more planning – you’ll need to get your own Russian Visa (the ships provide a “blanket visa” – which means you MUST stay with your organized tour). But if you want a customized tour with Alisa, it is worth the time and money to get the Visa.
This was by far the highlight of our cruise – Alisa made St Petersburg come alive for us and we were able to experience everything the cruise ship offered and much more!
