This place is brilliat, by far the best hostel I have every stayed in. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. The beds are comfortable, roomy and each has a shelf, light ,power point and lockable storage. The bathrooms are clean and plentiful and the water pressure is great. The kitchen has everything you need. The staff are friendly and helpful and most of all fun. The location is perfect for sightseeing. I can't recommend this place enough, it is the ONLY place I would consider staying in St. Petersburg.

Room Tip: I stayed in both an 8 bed dorm and a twin private, both in seperate parts of the hostel, both were e...

SKJ Hostel is the best hostel I've ever stayed at! The location is perfect. It's very close to all attractions n tourists sites. Next to Isaac's Cathedral, Nevsky Prospect, Ermitage etc. One thing I like the most is very friendly n helpful staff. Girls who are working there are full of energy n smile everyday This is probably what makes the atmosphere in a hostel so incredible. The next thing is incredible design. Huge n colorful common area with big n comfortable sofa, big n fully equipped kitchen and great, cosy rooms with comfy beds n nice bedclothes. There are no words to descripe this amazing place! You feel in this place like at home :) I would reccommend this hostel for all travellers.

Room Tip: mixed dorm room with double beds n view to Moika River is great

During a recent trip over 4 months of travel, in 7 different countries, this hostel was by far and away the best place we stayed at.

The general feeling of the place is wonderful, and reflects the design sense of the team who have created it. For me, the small details are the ones that make a difference in this hostel. We slept in an 8 person dorm, and the huge comfy beds with curtains (6 beds in this style) had good reading lights as well as electrical outlets handily accessible.

Regarding rooms, I only saw inside our dorm room, which had it's own toilet room and shower room (not attached to each other), with high ceilings giving a sense of space, and the view out the window across the canal was amazing.

There are 3 different common areas:

1. Kitchen.
2. Lounge area with big TV and movies by request.
3. Computer room (3 MacBooks) with seating as well as bean bags (small balcony too).

The kitchen was a joy to cook in. We cooked 4 night out of 5, as well as making breakfasts. 6 burner gas hob, two sinks, free drinking water, microwave, filter coffee maker (coffee provided), sharp knives, etc, etc. In the midst of all this there was frequent and thorough cleaning of the kitchen area, leaving it clean. There are 3 big tables to eat at and chat with others.

The staff were helpful and smart. They even organized activities such as pancake/ Russian-pie nights.

The hostel is well located and we walked almost everywhere from here.

It's all amazing in this hostel. The decoration is gorgeous, it's all made with good taste, clean and beautiful. The hostel staff is very polite and helpful, in fact, they realy care about you. The hostel is located 200 meters from Nevsky Prospect and 500 meters from Hermitage. Perfect!

Room Tip: You should ask about Yana's pancakes. :)

Wow! This has to be the best set up hostel I have come across in over two years of travel. The rooms are nice and comfy and very comfy bunk beds. Each bed has an outlet, light, small shelf and curtains. Top bunk is a bit higher than normal.

You can tell the place had been designed and run by backpackers. They have everything you could ask for. The electrical outlets in the lockers are a nice addition. I have never been to a cleaner hostel and even the luggage room was clean and orderly.

The whole place is just done very well. You will not regret your stay here and the staff are just wonderful. Now I compare all the hostels I stay at with Soul Kitchen and. Othibg comes even close.
