This was the first Cathedral I saw here in St. Petersburg and the outside is impressive but inside was staggering. It was renovated as it fell in disrepair during the Soviet era. But it is now a functioning Cathedral. Women must cover your head and men take off their hats, but it is worth a quick visit.

There are just so many churches and cathedrals in St Petersburg that after a while they all begin to merge. But the beauty of the city is that there are plenty of top tier sites within a relatively short distance of each other. Trinity Cathedral is located a little away from the centre of town by still within comfortable walking distance. Impressive blue domes on the roof. Worth a stop.

The picturesque Cathedral is particularly impressive as viewed from outside due to the 5 blue domes with glittering stars on them. We have visited this spot at night time and took a few photos from outside. The column and the cannons outside the Cathedral were also attractive to visitors. Recommended.

The Trinity Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox Church located at 7th, Izmailovsky Prospekt

The exterior is an imposing white building with columns at the main entrance and at the sides.

On the roof there is a magnificent blue dome with golden stars on its surface surrounded by four similar smaller ones.

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take pictures of your interior.

The Spartan interior is a consequence of most of the cathedral's valuables has being plundered in the Russian Revolution. It is sad to know that it has only recently begun to be restored to its pre-revolutionary splendor.

However, in Trinity Cathedral there is still an extraordinary collection of icons. Worthy of mention are the icon of the Nativity in the main section of the cathedral and the icon of Jesus Christ.

The Trinity Cathedral is walking distance from our hotel and, longer before reaching the cathedral, we have seen the blue domes with gold stars.

But you can go by subway and exit at Tekhnologicheskiy Institut station.

Since the Cathedral is in the vicinity of the Fontanka River, the domes are viewed from the embankments of the Fontanka River. It is also possible to see on the boat trip we made through the canals and rivers of St. Petersburg.

This big Trinity Cathedral is located in the Izmailovskiy Avenue or Prospekt. Its construction, exterior shapes and view of the facades represent a fine example of Classical architecture.
Since the Cathedral is in the vicinity of the Fontanka,it can be seen from the embankments of this river just walking along them, naturally, best from the distance.
There are in total five splendid blue domes with gold stars on their surfaces, four small ones on the circumference of the buildings complex and one big one in the center.
In the front of the domes is the entrance building with six colossal columns and pediment above them.
We liked a lot this beautiful exterior of the Trinity Cathedral and also the interior, full of exemplary icons, like Nativity icon and Jesus Christ icon.In the court of the Cathedral there are the cannons, in the memory of the Ismailovskiy Regiment, one of the oldest guards regiments in the Russian Army. And Trinity Cathedral was the regimental church of this glorious Ismailovskiy Regiment.
Also, there is a memorial Column of Glory on Troitskaya Ploshchad, beside the Trinity Cathedral, erected here in the honor of the victory in the Russo - Turkish War of 1877- 78.
Very nice place .
