Here is one of the most beautiful palace in the world and with one of the most re-known art collection, that has been left to be organized by I do not know whom? Beautiful rooms, beautiful parquets, non protected, overcrowd of paintings and pieces of art. You want to enjoy the Ermitage, just choose a few rooms per day to enjoy, do not go like the other tourist that just pass by like suitecases ( not to say cows) that are more into tuning their cameras for which they forgot to turn off the flashes than to appreciate the art richness of the place. If it is only to say you were there just buy the entrance ticket as a souvenir. If you really want to enjoy choose your visit pace and thema yourself and you will have a great experience even though you will be surrounded by hordes of suitecases visitors. I wish for the Russian that the future conservator of this musee will be more attentive of putting less art pieces inside for the people to enjoy them more than to go there as a must stop to be able to say I was there. for the people who enjoyed piece of art parquets go fast there because I do not believe they will resist the tourists since nothing is apparently done to protect them. A beautiful place treated as a money maker instead of as a musee.

This can't be missed in St. Petersburg. If you wander a bit you can avoid the cruise ship crowds, so don't give up when you arrive and find yourself surrounded.

The Hermitage is an amazing structure. Beautiful architecture restored after Soviet neglect housing a fantastic collection of the worlds exhibits. Only a fraction of the Hermitage holdings are on display. They do add new exhibits regularly. Like the British Museum, the Louvre and the Smithsonian complex you can easily spend a lifetime exploring all there is to see and process.

it is a good solution to buy in advance by web the tickets; You will save two hours visit at least for by passing a long queques. Very interesting too is to rent for 250 the audioguides so you can visit your own and you will be free from the guides and the crowds of cruiser people following them. The location is very important and exciting full of most important arts masterpieces The Winter Building is a picture gallery too, so you have all in one. It takes 6 hour to visit at least (pictures). The audioguide explaines abot picture and building history too

A must see when in St Petersburg! The artifacts and history was amazing! We had a tour guide which I highly recommend. There is so much to see and to avoid the crowds, I would go the first thing in the morning!
