We spent the whole day in the Museum and Palace and I could have spent more and more. It is absolutely fabulous - IMO better than Versailles

We had reserved a 2 day pass to the Hermitage and made good use of the time. Nice to have an English guidebook to help lead the way. The building itself is an amazing place - but there is art here for everyone. Considering we came during White Nights, the crowds were manageable - should be on everyone's art bucket list.

Allow lots of time to see this museum. There is so much to see. It is quite crowded and you need to keep up with your guide in order to hear.

Great museum that is typical of its type. Not only do you see countless rare pieces of great art, but also you are touring a great piece of history. I wanted to compare it to the Louvre, but I can't, Russia is just too different. They are similar in some ways, but vastly different. The Hermitage was a full day of touring for me and I enjoyed every bit. It isn't as kept up as other museums of its caliber would be (but then it is Russia) and I liked that feel. This is of course a must stop, you cannot go to St. Petes and not see the Hermitage.

Wow, I had always wanted to come here and it didn't disappoint. It was, however, very busy despite us being allowed in at 9.30 a.m. We took a tour organised by our cruise ship which was excellent, our young guide was very knowledgeable about the works of art and the building. It was, however, a bit rushed, we would have liked more time but as we were all worn out by the end maybe we just needed more days! Definitely a place to return to.
