Description: Western Georgia is famous for culinary traditions. The Khochu Kharcho restaurant’s menu includes all the juicy Megrel dishes - Khachapuri with traditional Suluguni cheese filling, delicious Chakhokhbili and, of course, the nourishing Kharcho soup. Brand-Chef and the soul of the entire restaurant group Iso Dzandzava knows all the secrets of Megrelian cooks. Just like people do in her home country, she puts Kharcho into a hazelnut and brings the special Adjika sauce back from Georgia, whenever she travels home. The cozy interior of the Khochu Kharcho restaurant invites to leisure meetings and soulful conversations. Two floors and a summer terrace can accommodate 300 people, but the feeling of a close get-together is created by well-planned zoning of the restaurant space. I want a Kharcho! Here. Now. Delicious!

Fantastic overall experience! Amazing food, stellar staff and a beautiful place! This was my first exposure to Georgian cuisine and I was thoroughly impressed with it. The preparations were flawless and everything we tried (and we tried a LOT) was fantastic. They have a menu with pictures of everything, which is usually pretty cheesy, but not in this case. Actually, with the level of photography they used, I kind of wanted to lick the menu. If you're in St. Petersburg on a short stop (like a cruise), definitely try this place. You won't be disappointed. My only issue would be we were led to believe the second floor was non-smoking, but apparently only part of it was.

this restaurant has great environment and very tasty georgian food .. make sure you are not sitting next to the kitchen as this will very very warm ... the menu is very rich and has a lot of choice ... the starters are superb but make sure you dont order to many as they are quite filling .. the chefs recommendations are really worth trying .. the atmosphere is very nice and spacious but very cosy and rustic

Restaurant is really great. You have wide varitey of Georgian food. Everything is delicious but the best is chachapuri. Well grilled meat, incredible ayran, very good mors. Restaurant is very comfortable and nice equipped. The only problem is the price for wine which is very high but it is general problem in Russia I guess.

Terrific food, some of it unusually spiced, served by a young attentive wait staff. BIG place, smoking and non-smoking sections. Many simple and many "why-not-try-something-new dishes. Moderately priced by St. Petersburg standards. We had eaten at Tsar, enjoyed the atmosphere and service but it wasn't worth $400! Definitely not worth almost the same price at Palkin, which is does the ridiculous "dry-ice-thing" creating "frigid weather" as a tourist attraction. Embarrassing for what purports to be a fine restaurant...it isn't...with a tacky thing like that.

No pretentions at Hochu Harcho and so easy to get to, with a subway stop right outside in the square, Open 24 hours a day. My only regret was that we couldn't get back for breakfast or another meal. We only discovered it on our last day. Highly recommended!

We dined here as a party of 10 friends vacationing in St. Petersburg. I agree completely with al the positive reviews--amazing to have this level of quality in a 24/7 restaurant that by all rights should be a tourist trap but is far from it! The menu is huge, with photos of all the dishes--again, a red flag in most places, but here a welcome addition. The dishes are authentic Georgian food, many with unusual, but delicious, flavors, and all extremely well prepared. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we changed our reservation the next evening to dine here a second time. Of the perhaps 30 different dishes we ordered (appetizers and entrees), there was not a single loser--truly! Special favorites were the eggplant and vegetable stew--similar to a ratatouille and out of this world-- the various flatbreads either stuffed or topped with baked cheeses, the shashliks (lamb and chicken), the chicken wings, charcoal grilled salmon and white fish, patties made of ground beets, hazelnuts and cabbage. The decor is warm and rustic, with cushioned banquettes. The service was attentive and friendly. Prices were moderate for St Petersburg, with entrees generally in the $20-$25 range. Most of us drank vodka, though some ordered glasses of wine that were pretty good. We determined (through careful sampling by the shot!) that Russian Standard Gold was better than the Silver grade, but surprisingly, also better, and less pricey, than the Platinum or Imperial grades. That said, a liter bottle costs about $140, so the alcohol markups are extreme (we had dinner at another restaurant during the trip where the same bottle was only $56!). All in all, a memorable experience.
