Some of the most "intense" interior design I have ever come across right down to the orange pants and suspenders the wait staff sport in the restaurant. That aside, it is really a quaint boutique hotel, unassuming from the street, well located, quiet and probably the most comfortable bed I have slept on in my travels throughout Europe! Staff was friendly and helpful though a few of my colleagues had technical issues with keys and TVs.

This was a great experience, almost the perfect choice. The canal-side old facade contrasting with modern funky interior design. The location couldn't have been better, only a few minutes walk from St Isaacs Cathedral, The Hermitage, and Nevskiy Prospekt, as well as some delightful restaurants. Our 4th floor bedroom was a good size with large wardrobe/storage/dressing area, the bathroom had a most welcome large bath, and even Penhaligan's toiletries. All the staff, and particularly the concierge couldn't have been more charming and helpful....but we are glad that we booked accomodation only, not including breakfast. On the first morning we chose to eat breakfast in the hotel, and it was ridiculously expensive, which would have been fine if the food had been of a standard to justify the cost. It was not, in fact it was one of he worst quality breakfasts we have experienced in a quality hotel. However this did not spoil our stay in this lovely hotel, as there were some terrific breakfast restaurants nearby.

I am staying in is hotel since 25/03 and my trip will last till 19/04. I am also from hospitality industry and more or less know the standarts for the such hotels. Generally I would say following:

Hotels itself a beautiful hotel, with good place in the heart of the city, staff is very friendly and helpfull. There are 2 outlets main restaurant and bar which are well designed.

My concern with the rooms: I think, the guest which are staying for the long period, has to be treated as a "using hotel as home" as I have already aksed for the laundry bag to be put in the room once the dirty laundry collected.

Also from F&B part, it was lack with the smoked salmon woth the hotel for the 2-3 days and items with this ingredients were not available.

I will write final review upon check out regarding the rest of the period:) let's see whats gonna change:)

Room Tip: Ask for the room on the higher flors

Stayed in this hotel in Dec. 2012. We had the mansard room. Doesn't really know what it means. Our room has a floor to ceiling glass window, then an open space all the way to the roof and then another window. Picture enclosed. The room is small but very comfortably. The bed, bedsheet , pillow are very comfortable. The bathroom is very clean. The staff were nice- everyone we spoke to knows English. It is hard to find someone who spoke English in Russia. The airport pickup/dropoff shuttle driver that we arrange from viator.com doesn't know how to speak English. In fact, aside from our private tour guide and front desk clerk no one else spoke/understand us.

We stayed in the hotel in December for a long weekend. The hotel itself was clean and modern however the state of the hotel was completely let down by the lack of service we experienced.

We were put on the 1st floor and could hear constant banging noises throughout the night. We complained to staff but they said there was no problem and did nothing to try and sort out the issue. There was also a party in reception one evening with DJs playing really loud music which we could hear in our room, despite the fact they told us not to worry and we wouldn't be disturbed by the noise.

The worst treatment however was on the day of check out. We had pre-booked a taxi to take us to the train station, which we had confirmed twice with the concierge. When it didn't arrive on time, we asked a third time and were told it would arrive in 10 minutes. All the meantime other guests were coming and going in taxis. When our taxi still hadn't arrived, we chased a fourth time and were told there were traffic problems and it wouldn't be arriving at all. Since we were leaving to catch a train out of the country, we were panicking we'd miss our train and were told to just go and get public transport. At the time, it was December and minus 26 degrees outside and we had lots of bags since we were going home for Christmas.

The concierge was not interested in the fact we were likely to miss our train and just shrugged and sent us outside to sort out the problem ourselves.

We missed our train, which was an issue since our visa ran out that day and it was the Friday just before Christmas when all other trains / planes were fully booked. With no other options we went back to the hotel and had to cause a mighty stink to get any help.

Eventually they sorted out a taxi driver to take us to Helsinki, but on the understanding that we had to tell anyone on the border crossing that the driver was our "friend". Unbelievable that they think that this was acceptable option due to their ineptitude of sorting out a simple taxi, but we had no other options and were just glad to be on our way.

It has been 17 years since my previous visit to St. Petersburg and to be honest I did not have special expectations towards the city or hotel. I have to say that hotel has been a positive surprise.
It has a good location and actually its facade is quite simple or modest with a small sign. It is easy to walk to the main attractions such as Winter Palace, Isaac Cathedral or Nevski Prospect.

The room has been specious, very clean and designed with a glamour touch and good style.

Even though I travel quit a lot, I have not enjoyed so tasty and many sided breakfast. So, special thanks for that. As it was a business trip, I enjoyed lunch with my colleagues at the hotel. Lunch was ok, but any water was not served automatically, we had to ask for it separately.

There are small things, which was not were not working from the first time e.g. the keys to my hotel room or air conditioning had to be asked in the meeting room, When asked, personnel has been friendly and they corrected the situation.

Overall, I have been satisfied with the hotel, its location, breakfast and nice view from the window.

We had a lovely room overlooking the frozen river. I have nothing negative to say about this place. Decor is a bit shocking at first but it works!
Room was brilliant and bed extremely comfortable.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
We ate in the restaurant after getting back later than we planned on last night, The food was a very pleasant surprise, Italian dishes with very interesting twists from the chef.
Breakfast was really good and lasted us all day as we walked around the city. Funny watching some breakfasters getting stuck in to the sparkling wine! Couldn't face it myself. Maybe next time!
