As all Marriotts, the bed is amaizing! Hard to get out of it! And the rooms are spacious.
The lobby is nice and bright, the bar is cozy and a bit "tacky" but nothing over the top.

Food at the restaurant is nice at breakfast (although the same everyday), whilst group diners are not very fancy (same for the business lunches - good but nothing special).
On this other side, the food at the bar is really nice, fresh and fancy :-)

Meeting rooms are nice and the event/catering managers are available.

The only down side is the level of english speaking troughout the staff... they speak a little bit... but don't speak too fast... especially with the youngsters :-)

Location wise, the Marriott is about 15 minutes walk from the Hermitage... and the walk is along the river Neva... beautifull :-)
The area is kind of real... not full of tourist.. you can get the taste of the real Russian life... worth to walk around!

Spent 2 nights recently. The hotel was very clean and rooms were comfortable. I paid around $150/ night and it was a fair price for the hotel. My room on the 3 rd floor overlooked the river which was nice but at times I could hear the traffic below. The staff, especially Victoria and Dina were extrememly helpful and did a wonderful job. Victoria helped arrange an all day tour for me with an english speaking guide that was great. The location is a bit out of the way so you will walk about 30 min to the hermitage or pay $15 for a taxi. From the Hermitage you can walk to St Isaac cathedral and taxi back to the hotel. There were numerous reataurants within a 15 min walk of the hotel as well as markets. For a couple nights this hotel is fine. Clean rooms, English speaking staff and ok location. I would stay there again

This hotel is a typical Courtyard by Marriott. The rooms are comfortable, not luxurious. The lobby is utilitarian. Everything is clean and Marriott-dependable. In Russia, having a hotel with no surprises to return to is not bad. The breakfast buffet in the dining room is wide-ranging and delicious but expensive. Because the restaurants near the hotel are not very good, we ended up eating dinners twice in the hotel dining room, which doesn't win points for ambiance but serves surprisingly good food. The problem with this hotel is that it is a half hour walk away from the Hermitage and even a longer walk away from other things you will want to see and the restaurants you will want to frequent. We tried the two viable alternatives. (1) Get the hotel concierge or front desk to order a taxi and to get the taxi driver to quote a price in advance to take you where you want to go. Don't just hail a cab and let the driver charge you the meter rate as it will be extremely high. (2) Walk across the Neva River on the bridge near the hotel and take the subway (27 rubles per ticket) to the center of the city. We tried both and found the subway a bit of an adventure and the cab quite convenient although much more costly than the subway.

Room Tip: Rooms with river views are directly above a heavily-traveled quayside road, so if silence at night i...

We stayed at the wrong place, oh well not their fault.
Anyway, after traipsing all over the place in the over priced taxi we finally showed up on the doorstep of this place.
My wife not understanding the Marriotts tier system for their properties was surprised at this hotel. She's used to JW and Radisson level so the Courtyard came as a surprise.
Whatever, we were tired and couldn't be bothered taking another Taxi to find a higher level property so we just stayed here.
For the money it was ok. Maybe a little out of the way but quiet.
Rooms were clean, as was the hotel. Breakfast was a little too simple, quality inconsistent day to day.
All in all, if you need a cheaper, clean hotel with English speaking staff it's ok for a couple days.
If you want to be in the middle of tourist attractions stay farther into town.

Like any Courtyard Marriott Hotels, this one has the standard Marriott quality, clean, neat, and comfortable. We only stayed there for one night with a free night certificate. The only complaint we have is that they don’t have free WIFI in the room, only in the lobby. Also, the location is not ideal for tourists. It is on Vasilievsky Island, although very close to the city center, you have to take the metro or walk at least half an hour to cross the bridge to get to Hermitage. Note that the metro stops running at around midnight, and the bridge opens up at around 1:30AM, you have to come back to the hotel before 1:30AM, otherwise you will have to wait until 5AM when the bridge closes. During the white night period, people often stay out really late, who wants to go back to the hotel when the beautiful sun set happens at midnight -

Nice hotel, large rooms. Some problems with mattresses in some rooms, though: if you get a bad bed (too soft mattress), the only thing to do is to ask to change room.
In general, very friendly staff, apart from two black sheeps. Unfortunately, the restaurant closes at 23 (staff refuses orders starting from 22.30 !) and no room service.
Metro station is at 10-min walk distance. 2 stations to downtown.
It is on Vasilievski Island and it suffers from bridge opening problems during the summer ( rom May till October.

Room Tip: Check the bed mattress before accepting the room.

Stayed in this hotel over white nights period covering Alye parusa celebration (high school graduates' party in the city).
The view to the ship approaching at night was very nice!
The hotel itself is well located at Vasilievsky island, 5 minutes by car / 15 min subway or bus to the /30 min walk to the historical centre.
The service was efficient, the rooms were well appointed and clean, the hotel is very popular with foreigh tourists as it's, probably, a part of the mid-price range package tours sold.
The price is being hiked significantly over late May-mid-July period, could be an excellent value in middle or low seasons, though without white nights and in unpredictable SP weather.
