If you are individual traveller you should avoid this hotel because its NOT in easy walkable distance from city centre. I'm a good walker, but even for me was too much! 30 min fast walk to Hermitage (not in the most beautiful part of SPb) or 15 min away from metro station, 500 RUB taxi ride (GBP10)
I sated here for 3 nights in July 2012, then moved to Angleterre hotel (for almost the same rate)
Hotel is new, rooms are standart Marriott- clean and characterless. Great for business trip or groups.

Flawless service from the moment we booked the hotel......every request we made was executed to the last word with precision....from visa support to pillow requests, room on higher floors, room with a river view...we got everything .......Excellent.
The hotel has a lively atmosphere ....in line with that of St.Petersburg even with albeit with a small reception area.
Good ,spotless, comfortable rooms.......large enough for a family and an extra bed ,Decent breakfast.
We had a great view of the river Neva from our room ..... even watched the bridge opening at 2 am at night.
The hotel is a little pricey.......... but good value in comparison to other Russina hotels in Moscow and St.Pete.
The only negative was its distance from The main sites and Nevsky prospect(2.5 Km-3km) although still walkable.
I especially would like to thank their Reservations manager Ms.Inara for the flawless service....

Room Tip: Try for a room with a river view and on a higher floor,if you book early enough you will get it...

Arrived the last week of May from the airport. Take a taxi, its a long way but it will cost about 1000r or $30 at that time and well worth it. I asked for a room with a river view and I got a very comfortable King bed with 325 sqft including the bathroom, and a view of the river, soccer stadium and the bridge, room 529. Most european hotel rooms are postage stamp size. This was huge and was the most reasonably priced hotel I stayed a week on my three week odessey into four countries. Very little traffic noise and the curtains close out all the light except around the perimeter.

Hairdryer, large bathtub, a bottle of water each day (an absolute neccessity, don't drink the tap water) a refrigerator that allowed me to store my medicine. For additional bottle water buy it at the subway station 22r compared to the hotel 80r.

The restaurant is expensive but I heard it was good, breakfast was not included and not many options for a vegetarian on the menu. I ate several times at a cafe just a couple blocks away called Stolle (it is a chain and has other good locations in the city). They claim to have the best pies in Russia, and I admit they are pretty good.

Location - There are two metro stations within 10-15 minute walk. If you are staying a while get to know the public transportation because your feet will thank you. The metro across the bridge will get you the closest to the Winter Palace but the other has a lot of cafes - a vegetarian one called Troistyky Most (also a chain) and musicians that play some evenings on the street, the weekend had an artist fair.

All the staff speaks some English and the concierge was terrific, I think Ksenia was her name. All were helpful except the staff didn't want to store my ice packs in the freezer but the chef was very kind to do so that my medicine wouldn't spoil on my flight.

Quiet rooms - no sounds through the walls, 3 English speaking stations CNN, CNBC and I think one other. WiFi is free in the lobby. Not fast but good enough.

Its not in the center of the city but I doubt you can get this size a room for less than twice the price in town. Great value - I would stay here again.

This hotel offers a good compromise between affordable rate (for St. Petersburg outrageous standards) and high end accomodation. Some 20 minutes away from the Hermitage, walking along the Neva River, this is a typical 4-star Courtyard. Nothing fancy, you know what to expect and you get it. A 10-minute walk will take you to a subway station and to a local shopping area with supermarket, drugstores, restaurants and even a McDonalds. There is nothing special in the immediate vecinity of the hotel, other than a nice view of the river from the street across the hotel.

Great hotel, we stayed four nights, brilliant river view room. Dinner expensive but superb. Bar kitsch but fun. Concierge could not have been more helpful. I had stayed in Marriotts before and had found buffet always good. This was very disappointing - cooked food, scrabbled egg in particular, poor. Coffee not good. Hot choc was wonderful. It let down hotel's otherwise excellent service.

Room Tip: Our fourth floor overlooking river was v quiet despite being opposite football stadium over wide riv...

Ive stayed in Marriotts all round the world . A former colleague felt so comfortable in them he even tried to order one of their beds. This one is no exception. Clean, modern comfortable rooms and we have a corporate rate of 3,000 rur but that will treble in the season! The only downsides for me are the fact there is no wifi in the rooms which is medieval and the room is somewhat cool.

Despite this I'd recommend the hotel.
