Russian fast food... pies of all flavours, all freshly made. When we went there pre-opera, they only had fish pie, meat pie and cherry pie left. Which was fine.
Don't go there for a romantic meal. Or fine dining. Or expecting anything. It's like any fast food joint - brightly lit, full of loners shoving pie in their face while reading or online. But if you want a taste of Russia it's well worth a visit.
And the pie is more like a sausage roll - they cut you a length. Pastry was good though. The meat filling was... fine. If you like generic ground oniony meat. The cherry filling was mainly a sticky jam, with a few morello cherries added in for show. It was also fine.
I loved it! But then I knew what to expect.
