Tucked away in the back of the main park in the city and you wouldn't think much of it unless someone explained to you what it was. It was destroyed and rebuilt so the reconstruction LOOKS the same but doesn't give the same feel of a historic arch.

This is a large structure that cannot be missed. It is a beautiful arch that commemorates some historical event. It is definitely a sight that would be on a local tour. There was a lot going on in the park when we were there. Interesting place.

When you visit this arch you'll probably run into people trying to take glamour photos for Instagram.

When you are new to Russia and not too familiar with its history, you miss out a lot and unfortunately, most places don't have any pamphlet (at least in English) to let the tourist aware of what is to see and to know... I learned later that in the next building was the headquarters of the French bataillon in 1917-19 during their presence before the October revolution. Not sure I got all the story right though...
