Description: The White Sun of the Desert Restaurant is ideally situated in Neglinnaya Street, one of the oldest streets of the capital, and is not far away from the centre with the Bolshoi Theatre, Red Square and The Kremlin. The restaurant is named after the legendary Soviet film of the 1970-es - “Beloye Solntse Pustyni” (White Sun of the Desert). The interior and its oriental design revive the atmosphere of the film: a summer garden with peacocks, walls and floors decorated with hand-made carpets. Three tiny halls are separated from each other by screens, which makes you believe that you are in a Tajik saklia (house). The walls are coarse beige. The tables are put on a boat in one of the rooms. There’s a pool with sturgeons in the middle of the room. Uzbek, Oriental and Chinese Cuisine. Specialties of the house: Zhauaneh - chicken wings with garlic cream-sauce, pilaw, shashlik on live coals, various salads and appetizers, Uzbek soups, "lagman", which is a dish made of Uzbek noodles, and more. Every evening: belly dancing, live music.

“Good as ever”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

Was not in this place for over 12 years: great to tell that it remains as good as it gets! Food is tasty, fresh and well presented. We had probably the best lamb chops ever, not to mention manti. Service is very friendly, as they do want your business.
Atmosphere was very accommodating even for our small kids, but that was Saturday lunch time at +29 outside. The whole city was at dachas...
Few points to improve: a few mix ups vs our orders, as well as we had to chase our waiter a few times to order things. At the end credit cards were not accepted, probably due to machine set up and only for foreign cards.
Overall, remains one of the best in Moscow for asian food with a good service at somewhat high price.

“Overpriced Uzbeki cousine”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

For all expat and travellers to Moscow this one among others Novikov's restorans is so-called thematic place: interior is made per famuos Soviet movie. The quality of food is so-so and pricy. If you want to try a great Uzbeki cousine try Kinoplov or Vizir Makhallya

“The best chebureks and pilau”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

I love this place for it's chebureks that are crunchy on top and filled with outstanding minced lamb and clear broth. The pillau is the best one, served very fast with tomatoes and cucumbers as a decoration (or a side dish). If you have a chance to be here, try their lamb shashlyk as well, and some desserts like baklava or honey pie.
