“delicious food for delicious price”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

Very expensive restaurant but definitely worth it. I am not a big fan of russian food but I have to admit that this beefstroganoff was the best I've ever had. It was delicious! The dessert was also fantastic. My friend had a traditional russian salad cooked in a very untraditional way. "Pushkin" is a must visit Moscow restaurant.

“Too stacked up place and getting boring”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

This place is in many guide-books and this is how they keep going. Decent quality food is diluted by arrogant service with waiters trying to speak proper old Russian and missing basic things on your order, but eagerly waiting for a tip after a disastorous service. Moscow has to offer many more hip modern places with amazing food. Pushkin is so last century :-(

“You have to try it!”

If you only have one meal while in Moscow make it at the Cafe Pushkin. Everything about this place will set exceed your expectations; food, service, ambiance.

“This is were you welcome yourself or others to Moscow!”
Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

It is not cheap, it is not as old as it appears to be and you can get good russian foos elsewhere. Still this remains the best place to welcome first timers to Moscow and Russia. There are different floors to chose from, the downstairs pharmacy (apteka) and the upstairs library (biblioteka), i prefer the busier apteka, but if you want a more calm atmosphere go for the upstairs biblioteka. Menues are slightly different (I percieve upstairs as slightly more pricy) but all essentials are in both menues.
This is how to do it proper:
1 pickeles vegetables and vodka (start with 100 gram per person) and some mors on the side
2 a selection of pelmeni to share
3 soup, borsh or solyanka
4 your choice of main, there is a tasting platter to sample different dishes, but I would go for the posharsky (change drink to wine if you want too)
5 if you can manage: dessert ( but i have never made it)

Enjoy, and dont forget to visit the rest rooms in the basement!
