Moscow is expensive so I thought when we got a rate at $160/night it would be okay but not great. Surprise, the hotel is convenient to Domovedo Airport, 10 minute stroll to the Metro which went right to Red Square without transfer. Beautiful lobby, spacious rooms, courteous staff who spoke english). Breakfast was included which was a fairly varied buffet with an omlet bar included. Tablecloths, silverware, great service in a beautiful spacious room which was a restaurant at night. Even had a lady in evening gown playing the harp. Not very knowledgeable about drinks if you get away from beer, wine and vodka. Even a starbucks a block away.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Milan the first and last nights of our three week September-October 2010 trip to Russia. This was our fifteenth trip to Russia. We spend most of our time in the Urals, but we have stayed in several Moscow hotels. Among them, the Milan was outstanding.

I did not get a response to inquiries or reservation attempts on their website, but a Florida travel agent booked our first night. After a few e-mails, the reservations manager faxed forms for visa support and issued visa support for our entire trip. The hotel registered us , as did hotels where we spent our first nights in Ufa and Ekaterinburg and a university in Chelyabinsk.

The hotel has a free shuttle at 8, 10, and 12 to Domodedovo, but not from the airport to the hotel. They have some taxis but recommended using an official taxi from the desk in the airport, which we did.

There is an excellent if somewhat expensive restaurant on the second floor, and there is a food court in the shopping center in the next block toward the city center. Just beyond is Tsarytsino Palace, which we had planned to visit and hope to see on a future trip.

My wife fell and injured both shoulders and both legs the morning of October 6 as a host was preparing to take us from Ekaterinburg to Koltsova airport and an early flight on a Siberian Airbus 319. First aid and wheelchair attendants enabled us to get through the terminals and on and off planes there, in Moscow, and the next day on to and through Washington Dulles to Nashville. Flight attendants also did what they could for her. Upon our arrival back in Tennessee, my wife's daughter took her to the Vanderbilt Emergency Department where they spent the entire night.

Using my BlackBerry, I exchanged e-mail with the hotel upon our arrival in Moscow, and the attendant phoned the hotel. Upon our arrival, the front office manager Marina Denisova came to the taxi followed by six others (the bell captain, a bellman, and four managerial or security personnel) who inched my wife through the lobby to a straight chair in the elevator which whisked us up to the 17th floor. They got her to the king-size bed in a large room with a view. The hotel bought a wheelchair for her use, which enabled her to attend a dinner some friends had planned and moved to the Visconti restaurant in the hotel. They insisted on sending breakfast to our room. The hotel sent the bell captain with the wheelchair in their shuttle van the next morning, and he and the driver transferred my wife and our luggage to United for our flight home.

My wife is recovering from bruises, a leg fracture, and rotator cuff tears. We hope health and circumstances will enable us to return to Russia and stay again at the Hotel Milan.

Beautifully decorated and a true 4* as well as great value (booked via expedia). Excellent location with a speedy and direct metro link to the city via the metro which was a safe ten minute walk away, coupled with a 25 minute direct bus to the airport. Fantastic breakfast (accompanied by a harpist), a micro brewery serving reasonably priced food and helpful staff - what more could you want?

The hotel is located southern part of Moscow but Subway station is within walking distance. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. I arrived early in the morning from Saint Petersberg and they could provide the room for me immediately. Breakfast is good with excellent facilities.

PROS: Booked this hotel through the United Airlines website so we would be near the airport for our return flight home. Hotel looks new, rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and quiet. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was abundant with a variety of offerings to please everyone. Free shuttle to the airport at 8AM, 10AM, 12PM - make sure you sign up for the shuttle. Accross the street from a shopping mall which includes a food court and a grocery store. Metro stop is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
CONS: Not an ideal location for central Moscow, but it can be reached in about 30 minutes by Metro. Free WiFi only on 1st and 2nd floor.

After sifting through hotels for our short sightseeing time in Moscow, we settled on the Milan becasue of the what we perceived as a balance of quality and price. We realized that while the Milan was not in the center of town and near the uaual attractions it is located on the road between the international airport and the center. While getting around town for a non-russian speaking person is difficult at best, we were fortuante to have a Russian friend that was our "tour guide" so the location of the Milan was a non-factor. The Milan exceeded all our expectations for the price for service, ammenities, cleanliness, and anything else you can measure or rate. The complimentary breakfast was amazing in the beautiful resturant and even included a harpist playing relaxing music. Note - free WiFi only available on 1 and 2 floors in common areas. Would definitely, highly reccomend if being in the center is not an issue.

Hotel was clean and comfortable with good service from reception and staff in general. Location very good for Domededovo airport and business to the south of Moscow. Not great for the city centre, but suited my needs. Generally good value for Moscow accomodation. The layout is a bit odd, and the bar quite open and a bit old fashioned styling. Food in the bar and restaurants is very good, though the harp player at breakfast is a bit much. The Pub attached does good food and excellent beer. Rooms are very clean and comforable. Internet service a bit intermittent, espceially late afternoon, but that is a general problem in Russia
