“nice hotel but a bit far from the main sites of Moscow”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2011

I got a very good deal for 3 nights at the The Bega for myself, wife and two 20+ year old daughters. I do not know what the Russian comparisons are for this level of hotel but we found it really nice. The staff in particular are very helpful and speak very good english. However the restaurant, as another writer mentions, is overpriced for the style and quality of food. The hotel is not close to the centre so you must catch a metro for 3 or 4 stops. The other draw back is that there are very few eating options nearby. One outstanding place we found by chance on the Tverskaya road (man the roads in Moscow are so huge) was called "the anti-soviet"restaurant. It was fantastic. Great Russian service, food and drinks with a fantastic waiter who spoke good english. One of the highlights of an otherwise average Moscow visit.

Room Tip: We had no preference but got an 11th floor room which had views across the city.

Reasonable hotel for a stay in Moscow if you are fairly confident using the city metro system. The cost was reasonable, but the restaurant was overpriced and I guess under used (not fresh) so retro way elsewhere. Not far from the city centre....

This hotel is just on the boarder of Moscow hippodrom and only thing which makes you wake up is the delicate knocking of horse carragies. Hotel is well innovated, very clean, with polite service.Breakfast menu is not extraordinar, but of good standard. Connection to airports and downtown makes it good business hotel.

Hotel Bega is a good option for a 4-star hotel in Moscow at a cost that is lower than most other hotels.

This is not a luxury hotel. It is basic, clean, and friendly. The rooms look out onto the hippodrome, so in the morning you can watch horses running in the track. Also, next to the hotel, there is a really fun go-cart racing center and bar (a must do).

The hotel is 10 to 15min walk away from two metro stations. When the weather is nice, this is a lovely walk through this area of Moscow. When its cold I would imagine this to be miserable.

The room amenities were very basic, if not cheap. I ended up using my own shampoo.

If you are looking for history and sightseeing, you will have to take the metro to more touristic areas. By the way, close to the hotel there is an Uzbek restaurant that is to die for.

Room Tip: Best view: hippodrome. Not go-carts

I have been staying once or twice a year at the Bega Hotel Moscow, for 4 years. I can't say enough about this hotel, from Reception, Security, Housekeeping and Restaurant staff, everyone is helpful and courteous. I usually ask for a room with a small balcony facing the Hippodrome, a sulky horse racetrack. It is pleasant seeing the Horses every morning. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a full bathroom. Room service is available and the restaurant is exceptional. It's small, clean and has an excellent menu. I feel like I am eating at a 5 star restaurant. Breakfast is included and features a generous Buffet.

I always have the hotel arrange a driver to bring me from the airport, which is very reasonable, Reception calls taxis as I need them and advises the price beforehand. I can pay the hotel for the taxi, which is convenient for me. WIFI is very good and free of charge, there is a reasonable fee for telephone calls.

If you want good value, food, service, cleanliness and security, you can't go wrong with the Bega Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Hippodrome.

Staying here this weekend and thought I would write my review now as I am bored with BBC World service.

The hotel is a good, clean hotel with everything that you want in a hotel (bed, shower, wc, tv, safe) along with this they have given is a bottle of water everyday and shoe shine. Most pleasing for me is the free WiFi which is good as I can organise everything online.

The breakfast is ok, a reasonable attempt at an international market and I heartedly recommend the pancakes, dinner on the other hand I will not be repeating, the cost is central London but the quality is not.

The other thing I thought strange is The charge of 50 roubles to get a fresh towel, not too much of an issue when here for a weekend but otherwise could get expensive, also you can not charge anything to your room which wasn't too much of an issue as it simply reduced how much we could spend.

Other good points include the English map you can get from reception, and the staff who are very friendly and helpful.

The biggest draw back however is location, I would 100 recommend this hotel if it was more central or nearer a metro stop but in March it is a very difficult trek from the station, but if you don't mind a walk (the trip to Dinamo features a slightly dodgey trip over a walkway, which made me a but nervous) and enjoy a bargain go for it.
