Description: Ugolеk is the restaurant of Uilliam Lamberti and Ilya Tyutenkov. We would like to tell you about ovens we use to prepare food at our restaurant. These are antiquarian restored cast-irone ovens that were made in the USA in the XIX-the beginning of the XX centuries. These ovens were the heart of every house, hotel or even saloon. They were used for cooking, heating, people gave them names and for every oven a special design was created. All the dishes at the restaurant are made only in ovens or grilled, except some cold collations of course. Everything is cooked on firewood, that's why food has its particular flavor. Style of food is brutal and a bit retro, and also modern knowledge of product's qualities are used. The kitchen is headed by well-known already in Moscow and well proved Italian Dgiacomo Lombardi.

Very overpriced - poor food quality - looks like my bagel travelled all the way from New York - costed as much and tasted like 1 week old. Paid 100 euros for 3 breakfasts - too much even for Moscow. Though the atmosphere is really nice - hip crowd and cheerful waiters

Ugolek is a new comer in the restaurant scene with excellent ambiance, friendly service, creative and quality food.. Even standard menu items are prepared and presented in a very attractive way.

If you want a new taste and place you must go. Great with friends and family ...

A hip and undoubtedly up & coming place near the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Central Moscow. I went late (they are open and serve late, thankfully) and had a delicious salad of warm pastrami, grilled peppers and other Italian-style vegetables, pickled capers, baby spinach and parmesan lace. Bread is not included, so you have to ask for it, because they do not offer you any (of course). Dessert was a beautiful white cake (from scratch) with cream cheese frosting and raspberry coulis. I had mineral water and the bill came to R1200, which is pricey for salad & a dessert, but hey this is central Moscow, a 10 minute walk from the Kremlin.
The main complaint I would have as I have in nearly the entire city is the surliness of the wait staff. They are bored to tears and don't give a hoot if you're there or if you're not. It was only after I tried to make a fool of myself with some bad Russian that my waitress cracked a hint of a smile. The guy who brought the credit card reader over was young, but a study in a rock-hard, unfriendly face. This place could be so good (really) if the wait staff just cared a bit about what they were doing and how their customers were enjoying their meals. I'll go back, but next time will mirror their treatment of me and see how they like it.
Oh and, as in nearly all of Moscow, no one speaks English or any other language (I am a linguist and offered to speak others) than Russian, and even if you are manifestly not a native, they will still give you a menu in Russian rather than in English.

Always busy! We were there on Sandy and it was hart find a place.
London-kind of concept - people get in and out but food is good and cozy. Everything cooked on the wood oven. Kitchen id open and staff is snaking back and forth. Menu is innovative and very balanced with coups, meat and fish. Everything is very good. You love to come back
