First thing first: superb location, next to every point of interest in the central Moscow, from Petrovka and Petrovskiy Passage (ancient 'passage couvert', next door), historical Sanduny bathhouses (across the street), Central Universal Store (TZUM), Kuznetskiy Most, pedestrian Stoleshnikov pereulok with its high-end luxury shops, Lubyanka and KGB/FSB building (stay away lol), Theater Square, Metropol, a short distance to Kremlin, Tverskaya Street, along with the hub of best stores and restaurants. At the same time, Neglinka, or Neglinnaya Street, on which the hotel is located, is not Moscow's busiest or loudest street, thus some kind of calm (relative for the central Moscow, of course) is guaranteed.
The service is very good, the check-in procedure and the waiting time perfect. Due to our earlier flight, we have contacted the hotel prior to leaving the US and were easily promised a check-in before the official check-in time (3 PM).
The amount of elevators is adequate, no waiting time, even at the peak hours. Overall, the hotel is very quiet, lacking any unwanted boisterous activities or loud characters.
The restaurant (restaurant Romanov) on the premises is very decent (please refer to our dedicated review on TripAdvisor).
Our room (room 387) itself was spacious offering good views to the old building of the Bank of Russia. Overall the room is well appointed, the soundproof quality is good, the bed, pillows and bedding are comfortable providing for a good sleep quality.
The free Wi-Fi is quite good, no issues whatsoever.
With that being said there exist several problems that a modern traveler is not accustomed to. First and foremost: there are no electrical outlets by the dresser/night tables, none. So you have to get to the desk area to charge your devices. In our day and age of indispensable gadgets it means that you can't leave your smartphone charging and have it within your reach.
Then, there are no USB ports in the entire room. The flat screen is of minuscule size. The bathtub is raised pretty high, unusually high.
The bathroom lacks washclothes which raises an issue of what to wash oneself with.
These issues are, however, compensated by the low prices, lower than any area's competitors.
Recommended.
