This hotel is a short walk from Red Square, 2 shopping arcades, and the Bolshoi Theater. Rooms are clean and pleasant. We had a shower but no bathtub. Some rooms are not made up until late in the day.

The hotel is about 100 m/yds from the pedestrian mall Kuznyetskyy Most and quite convenient to the Kremlin, Red Square, the Bolshoi theater, the museums etc. It also is quite convenient to the luxury shopping of the GUM on the Red Square or the TSUM next door, but Moscow prices are double compared to the U.S. or the EU.

When we booked, Peter I was significantly less expensive than other four-to-five-star properties nearby. The hotel itself is impeccable in all regards, but a few years after a major renovation, and offers the highest quality breakfast buffet I've experienced over the past year in Berlin, Paris, Chicago, Dresden or New York City. Unconditionally recommended.

Beware of common Russian/Moscow problems, though: a youthful concierge who knows it all but fails to come up with effective solutions, disgracefully arrogant and overpriced hotel taxi services.

Location, impeccable rooms and service

'Moscow', eg taxi service, concierge service

Room Tip: Yardside rooms are quiet, but only streetside rooms have bathtubs.

Hotel is very nicely located, neighborhood feels safe, within walking distance from the Red Square, Kremlin, Bolshoi. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast good enough. Front desk employees spoke above average English and were efficient and polite, though cold. Hotel offers transfers to and from the main airports; I recommend calling ahead and booking one, since the airports are 15 to 20 miles distant, very few local people speak English, and taxi prices can be abusive.

Great location. Rooms are quite spacious and quiet. Adequate clothes storage. Desk in room. Toiletries replenished every day. The hotel was renovated in 2006 and is well done. Excellent breakfast. Generally helpful staff. Free wifi in lobby with pricy, but secure wifi in the rooms.
No problem with water pressure - we were on the second floor.

I stayed at the Hotel Peter 1st for 3 nights on a business trip recently during a very warm and sunny week in May.

First the positives;

The hotel is very well located right next to the premium shopping streets in Moscow and 10 minutes walk from the Red Square with all of its incredible buildings. A large hotel on a fairly busy road but with excellent soundproofing in the rooms so very little noise. A big, well manned reception area with pleasant, efficient staff who had very good English. Check in was quick (for Russia!) and my room was very good with 2 beds (somewhere between a single and double in size) nicely decorated with modern fittings and large windows. Plenty of storage space and a long desk with lots of power points.

I had dinner in my room on the first night and a meal in the restaurant on the last night. The menu is a little limited but the food was good. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and a clean and bright room to eat in.

Now, the 2 drawbacks that stop this from being a really good review;

The pressure in my shower was pitiful. No exaggeration, the water dribbled out and I had to move around a lot to get wet. It took 10 minutes to rinse my hair. My room was on the 3rd floor and at the end of the corridor so, maybe, this was the problem. Either way it was irritating.

The biggest pain was that there was no free wifi in the room. You either had to go and sit in the public reception area or pay considerable sums for access in your room. Free wifi is becoming the norm now in restaurants, airports and most good hotels. The Peter 1st is not a cheap hotel and having to pay for internet access in your room feels like a rip off.

All in all, a fairly good hotel but the owners need to get the little things sorted oout for it to be really good.

When I go to Moscow for business I like to stay I Peter I.
Very comfortable and big room. I like the elevator with a k-card. It makes the access to the room more protected.
The restaurant inside has an international menu.
Only the breakfast is not excellent. The options are not at the top.
Free wi-fi in the lobby.

Room Tip: All are fine.
