“Beautiful park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

It is one of the oldest park in Moscow. We were advised to come here with children. For kids it was a paradise to entertain on attractions. They liked the exhibition of Ice sculptures, where they had lots of fun. You can spend long time just by walking the paths and watching others. For us it was important that you could walk here from metro station. It is perfect place for family visit. Recommended!

“Amazing place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

We went there by advice of our guide, honestly didn't expect it to be so great.
There was an exhibition of the ice sculptures which we liked very much. There were many people walking around, we saw locals with kids and couple walking around. It is really big park with a lot of attractions and interesting things to do and see. Recommended!

“Cross country skiing in Moscow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013

There is very little information on cross country skiing and where you can rent some skiis for a few hours of fun.

I have finally found a spot where you can hire skiis and boots in mosow. Sokolniki park is the place.

Catch the red line to the north east of the city and within 12 minutes you will arrive at the Sokolniki station. A short walk from there and you will arrive at the park.

Enter the park . On the the right side you will see the information office and the very next door you will see the skii rental place.

In the rental shop as usual, no one can speak english but through various hand justures and drawing, I managed to tell them that I wanted to hire some skiis.

The rental price is extreamly good value for money.

I got charge 150 rb for 2 hours and then 100rb for a locker. The equipment is obviously not the top of the range, but was in execelent condition. For that price I was expecting some really old stuff, so I was pleasently surprized when I got fairly new equipment.

Soloniki park is great for xc skiing. There are over 15 km of tracks. Once you figure out where to go, it is very easy to find yourself in a wooded forest all by yourself.
The park also offers other winter activities like skating and ice slides for the kids.

I will most definetly go and do this activity again. Once you have finished skiing, there are a lot of coffe shops and restaurants by the Metro station for you to recover from the exercise.

Lastly be careful when cross the main road across from the skii rental shop, as it has been intentionally iced over for the people to skate on.
