“Good location and friendly staff”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Spent three nights at this well-placed hotel; everything we wanted to see was within a reasonable walk.

The bedroom we were allocated overlooked a central atrium, which ensured it was quiet, was spacious, well-furnished and comfortable. The bathroom was also of a good size. Housekeeping throughout the hotel was very good.

Breakfast choice was excellent. Dinner was also good. Alcohol (unless you managed happy hour) was expensive.

All staff, with the exception of the door security staff, who were extremely dour, were professional and friendly.

We enjoyed our stay and I would recommend the Courtyard Moscow City Centre hotel.

This hotel is right where you want it, close by everything Moscow got to offer, but quietly tucked away.

The spacious lobby provides free Wi-Fi, by walking out check your email and you’re updated for the day (if you really can’t live without Wi-Fi check of the coffee chains, they all provide free Wi-Fi)

The staff – in English- was very helpful (in helping out with the visa documents, invitation, …). This hotel offers taxi, tours, ATM, money change, … . It aims at business but as a tourist you can only be happy with these services.

The rooms are spacious, nicely furnished, comfortable beds and bathroom (a safe is provided)

All in all, this hotel is not one that one remembers because of some special features, on the contrary it is a business hotel with all the amenities one expects from the Courtyard Chain. It serves perfectly for the tourist because of its location.

No thrills, No complaints – a good hotel for a nice stay in Moscow

(Since it was very hot during our stay, it was a pity that the ice machine didn’t work)
(The bar is a bit tacky, the dark wood is something between “Cheers” and a German “stube”.)

I stayed here for 2 days to explore the sites of the city & was especially pleased that most everything I wanted to see was within easy walking distance. The hotel staff was very welcoming & helpful in providing assistance & advice when asked. Although the room was small, it was very clean & comfortable. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Moscow.

The hotel is very well located. Hidden on a quiet street, thought still safe to walk alone at night. 15 minutes walking and you are in the Red Square. Close to a string of attractions and good eateries.

Marriott is proud to display the "spirit to serve". Then, here come the paradoxes:
There is a bottle of wine (complimentary?! or not?!), but is facing the wall. The person that placed it in the room did not bother to look at it from a guest perspective. So, I was facing the back label typed in a language I don't understand.
There is no plug adapter for international devices, nor USB outlet in the room for modern wireless devices. Still they offer to sell it to you for 100Rbls at the front desk. (Fair enough)
Clock in the room was set, probably by the previous occupant of the room to a different time zone. No one bothered to set it back to Moscow time after cleaning and selling the room to me.
Outside were 30C (unusual even for the summer), the AC was blasting in the room, and the towel radiator was hot in the bathroom. So much for saving the environment or Making Smart Choices!

Otherwise, the room was more than enough for the time spent there. I had a great night sleep! The lobby is large and welcoming, plus it has free WiFi. The full breakfast buffet, even if it was not included with the room package, it had a decent price and had plenty of choices.
Count on the taxis ordered from the Reception. They have better rates and you avoid being ripped off. The staff speaks average English and are very helpful.

This is a Courtyard Marriott that will accommodate the standard business travelers needs. The rooms are very basic but most important, it is clean. I called for extra towels in advance of needing them and had to wait 30-45 minutes but other than that I had no really challenges. I thought the buffet breakfast was overpriced. There is free wi-fi in the hotel lobby along with free coffee in the morning for hotel guests. I stayed in a room with a window overlooking the lobby and was still able to get the lobby wi-fi in my room which was a plus. I was surprised to find that this hotel also has room service, which is great after a long day at work when you don't feel like going out for dinner. The front desk staff speak English very well which is very helpful.

I used a car service (nothing fancy, but clean) from the hotel to pick me up from the convention center. This was slightly challenging as the drivers do not speak English and I had to be very detailed (used a map of the convention center) with the coordinator at the hotel to relay this information to the Russian speaking driver. The hotel car was in the exact spot that we discussed and the driver was safe. The fitness center was decent, however it was in the basement of the hotel which creeps me out a little.

FYI, when there are meetings at the hotel with large groups the hotel uses the lobby/reception space for food functions, i.e receptions/meal functions. This was challenging when walking from the front door to the elevators as I had to pass thru the crowds, other than that I didn't hear anything from my room.

This hotel is approximately a 15-20 minute walk to Red Square, the area is relatively safe as it is down the street from government buildings and I walked to both Red Square and the Bolshoi theatre from my hotel. As a tourist you should keep your wits about you at all times. If you are a business traveler and not looking for a fancy hotel but want a reliable hotel this is for you. If you are a vacationer looking for a clean and basic hotel in walking distance to red square this is for you as well.

Room Tip: Most rooms facing the atrium can get the free wi-fi from the lobby. Make sure you don't get a ro...

Due to a lack of English speaking in Moscow (and our inability to speak Russian), we knew we wanted to stay someplace where we we guaranteed an English speaker. The hotel was fine. The room was clean and cool, but very overpriced. The hotel is close to Red Square and in walking distance to most sites, so it is priced due to the location. If I came to Moscow again, I would find another place to stay due to the price.

This hotel is extremely well located, a mere 5-10 minute walk to the Kremlin, Red Square and most of the main Moscow attractions. The rooms are standard fare and the US themed restaurant is a little gem, with very good service. Wi-fi was only available in the courtyard area, which is really a minimum requirement for Business Travellers, but lack of free wi-fi in the rooms is a bit of a pain. The hotel as with all Moscow hotels is very expensive, however you do get better value for money at this hotel. Satisfactory.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the Courtyard have access to the hotels wifi
