Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Ostankino TV tower - the highest point in Moscow. From viewing platforms open most brilliant panoramic views of the capital. From a vantage point 337 meters of the capital lies at a glance: Here Lomonosov Moscow State University University, Christ the Savior Cathedral, the Kremlin towers, the complex "Moscow City". Afternoon - the best time to make a photographic miniatures of the city, take a walk on the glass floor and try out our binoculars and telescopes. In the evening, you can leisurely look at the bizarre shapes of the city lights, sitting in a high-altitude restaurant "Seventh Heaven", which rotates around its axis. It is interesting to walk around the tower. In addition to the beautiful "Ostankino" Museum-Estate with park and ancient palaces, here it is worthy of attention "Exhibition of Economic Achievements." Ostankino Tower is among the ten highest free-standing buildings of the world. Today it is not only unique in the signal power radio and television transmitting station, and meteorological observatory, a giant lightning rod, and, of course, one of the most recognizable symbols of Moscow. From an architectural point of view it is a flower that grows out of the heavens. It is weighty "petals" on the ground, holding a thick but relatively easy "stem." This is a very bold in its design structure: the base of the tower - only 4.6 meters deep. At the same time its height - 540 meters. The real revolution in the construction of high-rise! At the time of opening in 1967 it was the tallest building in the world and held this position for 10 years. Climbing the legendary tower already made tens of millions of people.

In fact I visited tower and observed Moscow from there 13!!! years ago. Sitting or standing on see-through glasses with streets of Moscow under me was one of the most thrilling things I ever experienced!!!)) Also I was lucky to have dinner in the restaurant there:)). Lucky because two weeks later the conflagration occurred and as far as I know it isn't possible to go to this level up to now(((.

“Don't expect to be able to go up!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

trekked for ages to get to the tower, as it was on my sons list of things to do. Waited in the queue......(although the Russians don't appear to see queues)for about thirty minutes, were totally ignored by staff, and left after nearly an hour of waiting.
looks impressive from the outside though.

“Great view. Tips for ticket process.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2012

It is one of those "TOP something must see" things in Moscow. If you are visiting here only for a couple of days I would recommend to visit some other attraction or just enjoy city excellent restaurants or any local events.

But for those who have already seen and done everything else and have extra 3 hours time so here is few tips: No children younger than 7 years. Take your passport with you (I used my plastic driving license).

When you arrive to TV tower area go first to left hand side located building (photo attached). They will tell you to which slot they have time for your group and will register your name to list. They might ask you to wait until it is 30 past and come back to counter. Then you will que back to same counter and you will get small paper ticket to have entrance to other counter behind this first one. Over there you have to show passport and give some money, ca. 1200RUB/adults for both levels. They will print for you plastic ticket with your name. With that ticket you can go to entrance where they will scan you belongings, confirm you ticket and passport like in Airport customs and that is it for ticket show.

There is small russian language presentation in beginning. After that you will entrance to lifts and go up. Actually that our young guide of ours who had that presentation down stairs (on that day) spoke excellent english and he gave us, semi-voluntarily, private english language "quick presentation" upstairs. That was really nice of him.

Some photos attached might give you feeling do you wanna go or not.

Fairtourist - share and care.

Ps. Restaurant have been closed for 12 years. NEXT year they will open it again ;-)

“Unbeatable view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2012

If you want a piece of Moscow that is different from the glossy centre, go to this area. Apart from the TV tower, there is the TV center, botanical gardens and V.V.Ts. (soviet times expo centre with amazing soivet architecture, almost a theme park).
The tourist facilities of the Tower have been recently renovated which is definitely a good thing. The viewing point consists of a terrace and an open terrace and the views from both are just amazing. Spend some time looking for the Kremlin and all other of your new favourites. If you are travelling in a group, book your tickets in advance since there are limitations on max amount of people going up the tower every hour.
Beneath the tower there is also a small exhibition of Soviet cars. Very sweet and touching...

“Cool observation point”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

Even on the rainy day it is worth visiting. Step on the glass floor and enjoy 250+ meters under your feet.
Not sure if restaurant is still working but sitting there and sipping something refreshing could be a good idea! Views are fantastic!
Spare some couple of hours and go for it!
