Owner description: The Kremlin's redbrick walls and 18 towers were built at the end of the 15th century by the Italian craftsmen Pietro Antonio Solari and Antonio Fryazin. The famous Spasskaya (Saviour) Tower is the main and official entrance to the Kremlin and its symbol.

Everybody comes to the Red Square to see Moscow Kremlin - it's a great part of Moscow history! For Russian people Spasskaya Tower is always associated with President's Speech and further countdown last seconds before the New Year coming:)).

This is generally viewed from Red Square. By all means see it during the day but don't forget to revisit it at night. The walls and towers are lighted at night as is the GUM Department Store.

To stand face to face with the walls of the Kremlin and then take a picture in front of St. Basil's was an experience I never thought I would have. Everything about the visit was grand. Even the subway getting there was an art history experience. Walking around the Kremlin gets you to the parade grounds, St. Basil's and Lenin's tomb. We didn't go inside St. Basil's due to time constraints but the outside was everything I could have hoped for. To go to Lenin's tomb you need to check all bags for a small fee according to bag size. Then you get in a line to be allowed access. A guard lets small groups through a gate. When you get to the tomb do not make any sudden moves or talk, etc. My husband had his hands in his pockets and was quickly made aware that his hands needed to be visible. The guard didn't say anything but his body language was sufficient to elicit my husband's compliance. There is a cost to go inside the Kremlin walls. It is well worth it, especially if you know your history. Outside the walls are beautiful grounds and events going on. When we were there we saw three wedding parties taking pictures. If you go be sure you don't need to use the restroom. They are the worst I have seen. Port-a-potties in groups of three apear on sidewalks. One stall is for the person selling use of the potties and the other two have an amazing smell that negates the aroma of fresh flowers and food like a slap in the face with a horse stall.

the kremlin is filled with history and is beautiful to see and experience. the armoury, diamond fund, the senate, cathedral square, the presidential palace, the towers and the tomb of the unknown soldier are the compelling highlights that you MUST experience to get the most out of the kremlin

the towers are wonderful and have been used in the past for many interesting things such as at attempt at mooring dirigibles onto them. Now they stand on the corners and make the fortress look magnificent.
