“nobody know english”
Reviewed September 9, 2009

first of all in hotel nobody know english just one of reception girl (who was only know smile in hotel) she know some words only. Others has no english, in internet room there is only 1 computer that works. when u go inside hotel u see directly security desk not reception. when my friends come to visit me they said that here like a hospital not hotel. Hotel location is good but there are some interesting people there like group of street gangs. Place have much trees like forest. This is so nice but looking not much safety too. u have one choice to walk vladikino metro station and this way like footpath dark and silent. in nights people try to see way by their cellphones lights. First day of my room when i lay to bed i smelled like orange juice on bed so i couldnt sleep good . I bought breakfast too in mornings. one morning from restaurant woman called and talked to me in russian something. She tried about 2-3 min in russian and after this she understand that i dont understand :) but i understand she try to invite me breakfast. And it was expensive hotel like all other moscow hotels.

We was there 1 night ( 85€/room) Moscow is an expensive city. If you knew it, you will think it's a good Value. Tha staff can speak english. A bit. It's not frequent thing in russia. The location not in the center, but Underground 5-10 minutes from the hotel, then 20 min the Red Square. When we arrived ( at early morning ~8) we can go to our rooms.
The rooms was clean, the facilites was a bit old.
If You wants to be some nights at Moscow in a simple hotel, not fare from the city center, you can choice this hotel.

I stayed at Vostok for one night while in Moscow to watch football and I was very happy with my choise. Vostok was pleasant and more importantly, very reasonably priced hotel in very, very expensive city (I paid 102USD for the night). The rooms were nice and comfortable if basic (but then again, if you want luxury, you are welcome to use the 600USD/night hotels there is hundreds in the city...).

The staff were helpful and spoke reasonably good English, room was clean and bathroom had all the amenities you need. Beds were comfortable and sheets clean.

Only critisism I have is the not very helpful instructions how to get there at the hotel website; I spent quite long at night trying to find it (I was using public transport rather than a taxi) so here's it in a nutshell; go to Vladykino metro station, turn right - there's a road that curves to right and walk until you come to big road. Take right in there until you see a big yellow hotel (I have forgot the name but you won't miss it). There a subway in there going under the busy main road (be carefull here, it is really busy!) and take the road that goes behind the yellow hotel from the left side, and walk on, you'll see Vostok on your right very soon. All in all, about 10-15min walk from Vladykino if you know where you're going. Btw, there's also a post office nearby (when you walk from Vostok to Vladykino, it's first or second street that is on your right hand side) which might be useful especially because there doesn't seem to be many post boxes in Moscow for some reason!!!

Went over for another England away trip
Booked a cab through the hotels taxi service which picks up from the airport and is reasonable and a safe bet when arriving in Russia for the first time

Rooms are basic and a little old fashioned but adequate for a basic stay
Unfortunately a lack of spoken English is a draw back by all staff but can eventually be overcome

Based a ten minute walk from the underground network it can be easily reached on foot if you work out the route before hand

Hotel has a restaurant serving basic but good fare.
However after dark lets say a few ladies of the night start to frequent the restaurant/bar

If you're on a budget though and want a base a little away from the busy city centre then this isn't a bad option

  • Liked — Location and value rate
  • Disliked — Lack of spoken English, dubious company in the evenings
