We stopped in to John Bull Pub on our last night in Moscow. The service was good, but the menu was lacking. Two beers and dinner were $85. Go here for the beer...skip the food.

First thing that you are faced is a question from the bouncers "if you are ok".Not the reception you get down in your local. The decor is fake 'old English pub' and the clientele is a mix of hookers, businessmen and drunks that have too much cash. Rip off run off the mill ale and staff that looks at you constantly as if you are about to run away without paying. It is ok place if you really need to find a pub in Moscow but I am sure there should be better ones...

In Moscow you can still smoke in bars and restaurants. Most bars have it segmented but not this one. Be warned it is very smoky! The price is ridiculous. One glass of wine and a pint and a half of beer came to almost 1000 rubles. Which is nearly twenty quid! To top it off we watched the barman pour the dregs from the spill tray into two pint glasses topped them up and then served them! Do not drink here.

I have been there many times, and hence one can deduce that I like it. There are always some Brits in there. The Bomardier Ale is the English beer of my choice, and it always tastes good.
Steaks are not bad. Fish and Chips is OK (but not great). I found that service varies but once you are known, it is not bad. Some girls have excellent English, some do not. However 'beer' is still 'beer' and the menu is in both Russian and English. The whole place manages to keep the semblance of a large, busy English pub (not my homely little pub in Farndale, but not bad).

Handy for Arbat Street if you want to do the touristy things, and Smolenskaya Station of the Metro.

Overall - not bad - especially if you are a Brit

I came for a beer but got chased out by the smoke and bad music. Some of the staff speak English. I think that is their target market but most everyone was Russian.
