I stayed here for the IAAF World Championships for 10 nights. First of all the hotel is a nightmare to find, no signs on the building and I only found it by asking some workmen doing some building work outside. When I checked in the receptionist told me that he was going to check if my room was ready so I waited in the lobby for a couple of minutes. He showed me to my room which was a room with a bed, with no room whatsoever to put your belongings and a small TV fixed to the wall. The room was filthy! Dust everywhere and there were weird, blood-like, stains on the wallpaper. There is no air-con in the rooms, only in the main lobby, which was advertised on trip advisor. The toilets are very small and one of them had a broken seat which meant everyone was waiting for the one useable toilet. The showers are very temperamental - either scalding hot or freezing cold and nothing in between. The only positive thing is that the location, very close to Kitay Gorod metro station and walking distance to Red Square.

We had quite a mixed experience at Russian Dream. Having booked a double room AND confirmed this by email, we arrived to be told that the room we had booked was 'broken", and were offered a twin room for the first night (we stayed 3 nights in total). They did give us some money back for this.
Words cannot describe how tiny the 'twin' room was. Both my partner and I are fairly slim people, and I could just about fit my shoulders into the tiny little space between the bunk beds and the wall. He couldn't! No window either, so definitely not for the claustrophobic!
We couldn't find another reasonably-priced hotel nearby so decided to stay, and it was not a pleasant experience.
However the following day, we were moved to a spacious double room with a large window, as promised. This room was very reasonable for the price we paid, and fairly clean, but dusty.
Other good points:
-staff were generally friendly and helpful, especially one of them who spoke very good English. He booked very cheap taxis for us and made us coffee while we waited in the hotel
-the location: 10 mins walk to St Basil's Cathedral and Red Square

Other bad points:
-the shower temperature was very difficult to control, either scalding or freezing
-the hotel is difficult to find, there is no clear signage anywhere or indication which floor the hotel is on

It is not even worthy the few money you pay for it. The hotel is walking distance from Kitay Gorod station. But you have to arrive with bags in a hill. We booked through booking three months in advance. When we arrived we notice that the building is going through renovation. The main door does not close ok so gives an impression of unsafe. The receptionist just greet us with a: we do not have a room for you. Just minutes after a couple arrived also with booking and they got their room and a complete different treatment. I tried to ask him how was it possible to "loose" your reservation but he kept repeating there is no room and go and find another hotel. I asked him to do that because this was their fault and he blaim me that we had not paid. Which was one of the pros advertized in booking. Do not trust it. It is always their fault. The receptionist just start to ignoring us and kindly help the other couple. We finally used their wi fi to book another hotel and took our belongings out of the place. We complain with Booking. They called us and kindly solved the overcost of the new hotel. The whole situation seemed weird from the very beginning. When we were contacted by booking they mentioned that the hotel had another room. The true is that the receptionist did not even dare to mention it. He looked relieved that we were leaving. A piece of advice. There are other places around Moscow. And you get what you paid for. Always trust booking. They were really kind with us.

Do not stay here. The tiny roomd are like heat boxes with no ventilation. The only way you can sleep is if you leave the door open. That is a problem though as people sit watching tv (probably because its too hot in their rooms) & make a lot of noise. One shower between 40 rooms. You do the math. The bathrooms are dirty & the shower is broken. Pay a few more dollars & look elsewhere. Do not be fooled by the cheap prices. The owners should be ashamed.

If you are old, bigger size or travel with the princess just avoid this hostel :) The rooms are really small, some of them without the window. In the room there is place only for a bed, no place for luggage or even place to move. BUT if you need the room on the reasonable prize - this is perfect place to stay (in Moscow average prize for the room in 3 stars Hotel is around 60-80 Euro!!!). Location 10-15min from Red Square by foot. Metro station 5-10min (Kitay Gorod). Next to the hostel is tiny Monastery canteen - for 6-8 Euro you can enjoy real Russian food.
The rooms in the hostel are clean, furnished with stuff from Ikea. The staff are very friendly and English speaking :) Check-in 24h.There is a small kitchen when you can prepare the food for you (fridge, furnace, dishes, washing and drying machine). Two bathrooms with shower and toilet inside, additional two separate toilets. The cleanness? Depend from the people that used it :) Generally for us it was ok cheap, perfect location - better couldn't have in Moscow.

Room Tip: Take bigger room with window, and if your check in will be really late, just write an e-mail to the...

We stayed twice during our visit to Moscow. The first time we had booked a twin without window, but were given a twin (bunk ) with window. The second stay we booked the double with window and it was better sized than the twin.
The rooms are small and basic. It is just a place to sleep. The rooms are clean and the linens clean. There are 4 toilets, 2 have showers. The 2 without showers are tiny but are useable. Hot water is inconsistent with the gas heating system. There was always soap and paper in the toilets.
The kitchen has all appliances but an oven. There are minimal cooking supplies, utensils, and dishes. We were able to cook with the one pot and skillet. However there were only about 2 spoons so you may have to wait for something if its in use. There is fresh drip coffee and tea free all day.
The staff was pleasant with us. They spoke english or used Google translation to converse. We were always greeted and they answered all our questions and requests. We arrived at 8am the first day and they were kind and accomodating. We checked in early, they quickly prepared the room and we were offered fresh coffee.
The location is perfect! Easy walk to Kremlin and metro.
We found the hostel quite ok. You don't spend much time at the hotel/hostel when in Moscow, so this place works out ok. One of the cheaper places around, too.

Room Tip: Window room is nice.
