“Quiet small hotel in excellent location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

This is a small hotel on the 2nd floor of a building only 10 minutes away from many major attractions. The rooms are new and comfortable, our room on the east side was quiet (apart froma fairly loud ventilation system). Wifi works most of the time, best in the hall near the center. Breakfast is served in a small room with a TV that is too loud (like everywhere in Moscow where each place is turned into a disco). The breakfast is pre-cooked, a surprise every day. I would have preferred a more free choice. The staff is very friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the disco that is on the right (west) side when entering the hotel.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

I stayed at the hotel in June 2013 while attending the rAsia.com conference. The rooms were clean and modern, and everything worked well. I particularly liked the power of the shower, which was great. Also, the free wireless broadband worked well.

The staff were friendly, and seemingly were not bothered too much by the fact that I went in and out of the entrance "after hours" (when the front door is usually locked).

On the "bad" side, guests should be aware that there is a loud bar/club adjacent, which basically runs all night, and it appears that all of the rooms (my colleague had the same experience in another room) can hear the music and feel the bass quite easily! All night!! Conclusion: Not a place to stay if you are a light sleeper! Also, the elevator only goes up to the 2nd floor, so if you are staying on the 3rd (top?) floor, you have at least 15 steps more with your bag to get to your room! The elevator is also painfully slow, which is because it is not "integral" to the building, being powered by a hydraulic "piston" located under the floor. Finally, the restaurant is one small, dark room (on the 2nd floor) with minimal choice.

That said, the location is excellent, being well site for most of the key attractions, including Red Square.

ps - rAsia.com conference was great!

It's 1.37am on a Tuesday morning and I am wearing ear plugs. I can still hear the nightclub next door. I politely enquired with reception when the club may close. I was met with a disinterested shrug. I am in a room on the top floor at the back of the hotel. You could still hear the din in reception at the front of the hotel on the ground floor. The noise obviously effects the whole hotel.

I was scolded in the shower on my first day so be careful. The hot water is boiling.

The rooms are pleasant but if you want to sleep during your stay in Moscow choose another hotel.

This is a nice, very small hotel in central Moscow, decorated like a 17th century brothel. It's clean and my room was comfortable. Internet access was good Unfortunately, that's where the praise ends.

At USD 230 / EUR 180 per night, it's more expensive than the luxury Sheraton Palace down the road. And that's if you can manage to pay at all - they only accept cash rubles, which must be paid up-front at reception, before you get your key. They don't accept credit or debit cards at all. Given that the staff have no idea where to find an ATM, and the road the hotel is on is currently (November 2012) a mud-bath due to road-works, it's frustrating.

The front desk staff had poor English, while the breakfast waitress has none at all. The breakfast was exceptionally poor - no buffet, just limited dishes with cheap, nasty ingredients thrown together by an unpleasantly phlegmatic cook.

It was hard work to get an clothes iron, the nightclub next door made the headboard vibrate, they don't provide bottled water and the heating didn't work. I gave up complaining after the staff made it clear they weren't interested. I could go on - but just do yourself a favour and book another hotel. There's plenty available around this location within this price range. Dreadful value.

Room Tip: Ask to be put at the back of the hotel, away from the nightclub noise. Actually, just stay in anothe...

The hotel is located incredibly close to the Red Square and shopping. For the money, relative to other hotels in Moscow, it's a great deal. The rooms are nice. I'd for sure take a room facing the front of the hotel though. Be careful with water temperature. It tends to vacilate quickly. The rooms are nice but the matresses a bit hard. The staff is curteous. It seems like they're making an effort to make the hotel better since it's still new. They take only cash, but promised they were working on taking credit card in the future. Also, take a room with a low number so you're further away from the beats of the bar next door. I'd stay there again.

Room Tip: Low numbers and in the front.
