I staid there many times while in moscow. It is charming in all seasons for those who like quiet & peaceful environment.
Rooms are old looking ( soviet type) but very clean.
Food at restaurant is OK .
Close to metro station (tulkaya) & shopping mall ( erevan center) for more western type of food.

The Danilovsky (Danilowsky) Hotel offers a very nice quiet setting with a large park. The staff was extremely friendly. The food at the restaurant was very good. Prices are excellent for Moscow. The room I stayed at was simple but comfortable.

The hotel is owned by the Russian Orthodox Patriarchate and thus you will see religious guests. But if you do not mind this setting, it is the perfect place to rest after a busy day in the city.

The pictures look good, but don't be fooled by the fact that it is a beautiful building from the outside - it's a monastery, frugal. I am writing this review exactly a year after my visit. This late review is spurred on by the fact that UK travellers will be looking for hotels for the up and coming UEFA Cup Final in Moscow on 21st May 2008.

The room was booked for me by my company (Moscow branch), and I believe they did their best. There is such a shortage of hotel rooms in Moscow at the best of times.

The whole experience was awful. The room would be a 1- star in Western Europe. It was cleanish, don't expect room service, small, black and white TV, only Russian channels. One restaurant in hotel and the standard of food was really bad for the cost. Something like €50 for a small piece of badly cooked salmon, bad veg and a diet coke.

On top of the hotel rate there is an extra 'tourist tax' which will appear on all hotel bills, I guess.

I took a taxi to Red Square, to see the sites, roughly €50 and that incidentally is what transport is from the airport.

Best meal I had was when I ate at McDonald's in Red Square - but be prepared to queue for at least an hour, then wait another hour for the loo.

The Danilovsky hotel is situated out of the city centre, by Moscow standards it is fairly cheap. Although it is close to Tulskya metro station in a reasonable area, you must walk down one of two dark badly lit streets at night. I was a little on edge every time.
Staff were extremely unhelpful and often rude. They refused to register me as required by law with the local police and would net even read the official form I tried to show them.
The rooms are small and a little dirty in places, ours seemed unlived in. One or two silverfish in the bathroom etc... The rest of the buildings and garden is quite nice, however the attitude of the staff soured our experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
