Though I was a little put off by all the military presence outside and the lack of other people walking around on a Tuesday morning, I ended up enjoying this place. The staff speak NO English so don't plan on asking any questions and a lot of the first floor you visit is English-free (or no English at all). BUT most of the displays upstairs have English descriptions and it's still neat to be able to watch some of the videos (though in Russian) to see WWII through the Russian p.o.v. which is definitely something new for me. Some of the images on the wall from the labour camps are horrifyingly heartbreaking and though I think that they've overdone some things here, it was overall interesting and I was glad I had visited! It's HUGE.
