The hotel is situated not far from Red Square and we were able to see it from our window. Unfortunately, because we were so close to such a major tourist area, the traffic was non-stop day and night and it was difficult to get a good night's sleep without ear plugs. Everything about the hotel is VERY expensive including meals. Russia itself is a very expensive place to visit. Breakfast was included in the price -t hank heavens for small mercies- and was buffet style with a decent amount of options to choose from. The room was comfortable but not on the same level as some 5 star hotels where we had stayed previously. Staff were not overly friendly but again, I had been spoiled by staying in other European hotels and expected the same from Russia.
Be careful about getting taxis from the airport. ONLY get those sanctioned . We were handed off to another individual but refused and went back to the counter until we had a legitimate taxi vendor. Be sure to arrange price BEFORE you start your journey! The stores and restaurants in Red Square are VERY expensive. Two glasses of red wine cost $45 -definitely NOT worth that, so be aware.More
