“Essentials of Moscow”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

The highlight of my trip to Moscow was taking in the Bolshoi. Beautiful, and romantic.

Try and get out quickly at the breaks if you plan on actually getting a drink. We were a little late and got to the front of the line just as the ballet was restarting.

“Extravagance in gold”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Define extravagance. Once you see Bolshoi Theatre, you will find everything else modest. Superb work in gold.

“Unmissable”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Moscow is a very expensive city for a visitor but the Bolshoi is amazing value and inexpensive. We actually visited in June 2010, not 2012 and at that time the Theatre itself was undergoing refurbishment. I am not sure if this is completed as of March 2013. The company performed Swan Lake at the State Kremlin Palace Theatre with its 6000 seats packed to capacity. Do not leave Moscow without visiting the Bolshoi even if like me you haven't a clue about Ballet. The Bolshoi also have an Opera Company. We attenden La Boheme and enjoyed a second magical experience. Booking the Bolshoi is a very unusual experience for a Russian event/attraction as it is a very efficient and simple on-line process. The rest of Russia could learn from them.

“Restored to its original glory”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

The Bolshoi Theatre has recently completed a multi-year restoration and is a masterpiece of mid-1850s architecture in the grand style.
