“Glad we did it.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

It cost us a lot of money to 'do' the Bolshoi but it was worth it. We were unlucky, we just missed a production of Swan Lake by a matter of days. We did however go to an Opera by Ravel and the musicians, singers and dancers were fantastic.

“Amazing experience..”

Another must see if you are visiting Moscow. I visited the first time in '05, just before the renovations. Since the renovations this wonderful place is even better! Buy your tickets from reputable sellers, buy in advance and buy the best seats available!

“Probably the World's Best Ballet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

Beg, steal or borrow a ticket (or just buy one on-line!!) to get to this place to see the ballet company performing. No trip to Moscow would be complete without visiting this magnificent and recently refurbished theatre and the icing on the cake would be a Bolshoi Ballet performance. The theatre has been returned to its former grandeur following many years of closure for much needed repair. The stage is huge which allows for large and lavish productions which are now lit by state of the art lighting, rather than the dimly lit stage with spotlights of 10 years ago. If you can see a performance of La Bayadere, Pharaohs Daughter, Le Corsaire, The Bright Stream, Raymonda or Spartacus you'll never forget the experience...the talent that the Bolshoi Ballet consistenly display has been handed down from dancer to dancer over many generations as, when they can no longer dance, dancers become teachers so that there is a link right back to the beginnings of this great old theatre. Enjoy!!!

“La Traviata @ Bolshoi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

Amazing, breathtaking and a bucketlist-must!

I was amazed not only by the size and design of the theatre, the orchestra was absolutely fabulous, great actors/actresses and the preps were great! They had a real horse and a carriage on the stage. Need I say more? The theatre is recently renovated and I am certain this is one of the most beautiful sights in all of Moscow.

You need to go here, dress up nice and have an unforgettable time in Moscow and the Bolshoi theatre.

“Opera For Kids, Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

When we asked our 10 year year old son what he wanted to do in the winter holidays he surprised us by saying that he wanted to go to the opera. So during our trip to Moscow we went to the Bolshoi Theatre to see Iolanta.

Iolanta is an opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The libretto was written by the composer's brother Modest Tchaikovsky, and is based on the Danish play King René’s Daughter by Henrik Hertz.

It was a great performance and, for sure, we will return to see another opera at the Bolshoi!
