“Best ballet ever”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

If you are lucky to get a ticket to the Bolshoi Theatre, go there! Today was the first time I went to Bolshoi and I didn't regret it. It was the best ballet I've ever seen. I've heard many good things about Russian ballet and now i got a chance to experience it. Marvelous, Beautiful, Unbelievable!!

The Theater was great, a lot of actors, but I was expecing more from the "Bolshoi" (big) theater for that huge amount of money.

Loved it - never been to ballet before and what a great start - Bar is expensive but a glass of fizz prior to the ballet seemed appropriate - lovely building and great show such a really lovely experience

“New Theater (across from Bolshoi) is Great!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This square consists of 4 theaters - hence the name of the square. The Classic Bolshoi (as the locals call it) is in the center, while the New Bolshoi (as the locals call it too) is off to one side, along with another theater that I don't know the name of. Across from these two is the Maly Theater. In the corner is the TSUM Department Store.
Saw the Tsar's Bride opera - fantastic! I go to the opera at home but had never seen this one; very entertaining. Felt glad to be seeing an opera with a Russian theme/costumes as it added to my experience. English translations/subtitles on two screens; who woulda thought?
I find all seating at Russian theaters to be a little uncomfortable because the back is so upright. However, it was a nice, smaller theater that felt very intimate. Very enjoyable.
Don't miss the buffet room - lots of small chocolates and champagne for sale, as well as 4 different salmon options (meat pie, bread with lox, etc.) and soda or water.

What' left to say, if in Moscow, make sure to visit. No matter what's playing, become a part of history. Just make sure that you come on a night when the President isn't there, or the first curtain can take hours past the start time, as the man is known to run late))
