Owner description: A dazzling array of treasures from the 4th to the 20th century are housed in this Kremlin museum, including thrones and carriages of the tsars, the works of Moscow silver and goldsmiths, arms, jewels, precious Russian Easter eggs and other Russian and foreign decorative arts.

There are enough gold and silver items and jewels in the Armoury alone to make an impact on solving world hunger. I can't imagine adding what is in the Diamond Fund. By the time we toured the Kremlin grounds, several churches and the Armoury, I had absorbed all I could take for the morning. I could have really used a DVD so I could go back and review all we saw. We were with a tour with Travel All Russia and our guide seemed to have a complete data base in her head. Thanks for the great job, Eleana.

The Armoury opens 4 times a day for visits of one and a half hour. There's an audioguide for one hour. The collection is so vast that you leave with the sensation that you barely saw 10 % of it. Probably never you'll see such amount of gold, silver and precious stones reunited in a single place. Also are precious clothes, religious artifacts, chariots, weapons and many artistic objects. Among it I must to mention a collection of Fabergé eggs with about 10 of it. It's a must when you visit Moscow. Tickets are sold inside it, not in the ticket windows of Kremlin.

Tickets were very easy to buy at the ticket box in Alexander Gardens and there was no lineup at 10:30am the day we went. Granted it was 'out of season' but we still expected to queue for hours. The Armoury is not very big but the displays are excellent. The military displays, horse armour, porcelain and gilded silverware are spectacular. We found the extensive collection of historic clothing and the amazingly beautiful Royal Crowns fascinating. Most of the display cases provided information in English but we also took the free audio tour which was useful. You probably won't need any more than the time alloted with your ticket.

World class museum in my book. The wealth and stature of the tsars and tsarinas comes across in full setting. Especially don't miss the collection of horse-drawn royal carriages and very old battle armor. But it's all impressive, allow 2-3 hours to do it any justice at all.

A quick glimpse into the lifestyle of the historical rulers of Russia. Opulent, bloody, beautiful & overdone all at once. Another must see, in my view. We had a guide, went quickly through & still felt like we had truly experienced the place. 1-2 hours is probably enough, once you are inside.
