This park really makes you realise the suffering of the Russian people over the years. There is a particularly moving memorial to the Holacaust and there are lovely views across the city.

“Magnificent views and structures”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

The obelisk stands out at 141.8 metres although our guide insisted it was 1,000 metres (or 1 kilometre) a little over exaggerated.
The monument to St George slaying the Dragon was surprising as one associates St George with England but we were informed that he is a Patron Saint of Russia as well.
The Park on Bow Hill is well laid out and a pleasure to wander around.

“More than expected”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

What a fantastic experience. Make sure you have time to see it all. Lots of walking but well worth it. The museums new dioramas painted this year are jaw dropping, the film footage is very emotional and the scale of the room listing the hero's stops you in your tracks.

“Kinda mind blowing/numbing”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

I had a Russian speaker with me, she translated a lot of the plaques. I can't even imagine what these people went through. Some of the victories were of the, wore the enemy down in moral an munitions type. Meaning took a lot of rounds and didn't concede.

“Very striking Park!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Victory over the NAZI forces who attempted to take Russia, is celebrated very strongly every year in film and concert, but the park, itself is a permanent monument to the cities that were involved in repelling the enemy.

The flowers, the fountains, the large expanses of grass, the treed avenues for walking under, as well as the sweeping curve of the columned cenotaph, fronted by an incredibly slender column, topped with an angel blowing a trumpet. Round the base of this is a list of the cites named for their participation in safeguarding the country for m the aggressors.

The fountains are light coloured and the flowers, laid out in beautiful patterns are gorgeous!

Have a picnic there!
