i loved it. First off it has everything you would like in an open market. New things and old. Garage sale type as well. Food cooked in front of you and homemade drinks that you will not find anywhere.
Don't miss it in the summer time.
There is souvenir market. A lot of merchants can speak many languages, English, Thai, etc. Price normally are not show, better look around and check price before bagain. The price can be cheaper than some souvenir shops in town. Nearby there is place that
Tourist can enjoy taking picture.
I visited the Izmailovo market on Sunday, June 9, 2019 with my father, and we decided to have lunch at a food stall next to the Bread Museum. We ordered 2 pieces of salmon with tomato and onion salad, 2 servings of rice, 1 large piece of bread and a half-liter beer can.
Food served on plastic plates and plastic cutlery. When paying, the lady shows me the total amount to pay in her calculator:
"4,050 rubles (€ 59)".
When asking her for explanations about that amount because it was very expensive, the lady showed surprise about that question and said that the price was right. After a conversation exchanging our differents points of view, I payed and left after realising the lady was decided not to modify her point . In the next days we never payed more than 3.000 rubles for a food for 2 people in proper restaurants,
I have traveled extensively to India, Nepal, Peru, Brazil, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco,Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba Turkey, USA and almost all of Europe and never felt so cheated.
This place is crazy. You have to see it to believe it. Visited saturday spent 5 hours or so wandering round thousands and thousands of stalls. You get professional souveneer sellers, professional antique dealers and your car booters. all mixed into a very large fair ground type park. I saw guns and ammo openly on sale. I did buy a 70s soviet era souvenier from one of the car booters. A bit of haggling and walking away saw the price drop by 1000 rubles, so it always worth trying your luck. Seeing is believing with this place.
Gorgeous view of the Izmailovsky Kremlin as you walk from the metro station. Very easy to get too
Was there on a Sunday. Lots of stalls selling local crafts - some better than others You need to know your price so you can bargain
Some really good local crafts
You can also walk around the Kremlin and there are lots of places to eat
Nice way to spend a morning or afternoon
